Notes from the Builder:
When I first saw this boat in Wooden boat magazine ,I sent for the plans right away. It was the perfect offshore cruiser for the inland passage.
As I began building ,I strengthened the hull by adding structural knees , a solid wood keel & bow to stern stringer. I then fiber glassed the entire hull ,using 15 - 20 gallons of epoxy. All fasteners below water to gunnels are stainless steel... Topside bronze or brass. Basic structure is clear Douglass fir with quality 1/2 " plywood..doubled on the bottom & transom.
Built in are 2 fuel tanks with 40 gal capacity..2 - 10 gal.water tanks to galley sink..There's a place in the V berth for a porta potty...I stretched the house 2 feet for comfort...
The electrical is done..all lights , bilge pumps , radio etc. function perfectly..windows are all safety glass. Roof can easily accommodate an 8 ' zodiac for extended cruising. The 40 hp. Suzuki 4 stroke is more hp. than the plans called for. It should cruise comfortably at 12 - 15 knots .
It is very fuel efficient , & quiet.
I've spent most of my life on the ocean & built & repaired many boats..mostly in the San Juan Islands off of the Washington coast. this one seemed to be best suited for my needs. I did not build it to sell , but for my own comfort & enjoyment. I've changed plans & the boat has been waiting for someone to love & enjoy it as much as I enjoyed building it . happy cruising....
The engine has never been used.
