There was only about 150 Chris Craft El Capitan 33 Cruiser built for 2 years in 1953 and 1954. The engines were replaced by Chris Craft in 1977 with a pair of Chrysler V8 units.
This Chris Craft is in the process of being completely restored. The hull has been completed. The interior was gutted and is about 70% completed. I am currently waiting on a list of the work that is currently completed. Below you will find a list of the unfinished work to be completed.
The boat has always been stored in a covered freshwater slip. The slip has the potential to be transferred to the new owner. This is a rare find and a vintage beauty. The El Capitan is a very seaworthy boat and needs nothing to take her out for a cruise.
She is looking for a loving owner who can complete the work and bring her glory to completeness. No doubt, this is a wonderful opportunity for a collector or classic antique boat lover.
The Chris-Craft El Capitan is in the process of a complete rebuild. The owners moved and can only complete the rebuild in small stages.
List of Restoration for Completion:
1. The only glass that needs to be replaced are the two sliding windows on the starboard side to "match the port side". The port side has been completely done.
2. Refrigerator is present but needs to be permanently installed. Once that is done, the new owner can then put the finishing touches on the galley counter. Cabinet doors needed.
3. Needs water system and water tank installed so there is running water to head and galley.
4. Needs holding tank.
5. Walls and floor in head need to be finished with coverings of choice.
6. Salon floor to be finished also with flooring of choice.
6. Transom navigation lights need to be wired. Power is already there.
7. Gold leaf kit with boat name and port of call has never been installed. The new owner may choose to "finish" the transom first.
8.Entire back deck has been replaced with new old-growth fir. Finishing work needs to be completed, and hinging of deck hatches needs to be completed.
The owner has a large number of totes containing documentation and parts for the project.
