MECHANICAL AND HULL
- Foam or foam composite materials used throughout -
A key selling feature for the Sea Fox 200XT Pro is that it is built with no structural timber -- so there is nothing to rot.
The 200XT is made with foam or foam composite cored materials throughout and the foam-filled fiberglass stringers are bonded directly to the cockpit floor for added strength and rigidity. The transom is equally strong as it is reinforced with an aluminum plate that has been fiberglass into the structure. This adds durability and provides additional support for high powered outboards.
All vacant spaces in the hull are filled with closed cell foam for flotation and to dampen hull noise when underway.
A water drainage channel runs along the keel from the bow to the transom to ensure there is no water trapped under the floor. A single bung at the stern releases rainwater - though it will be pumped out automatically (when the power is on) with the float switch operated 800G/ph bilge pump.
You can access the bilge area via a hatch in the top of the outboard well. Within the bilge you will find the bilge pump, two live-bait tank pumps and the fuel/water separating filter.
The dual batteries are not located in the stern, but on a shelf inside the center console. There is a master switch on the side of the console so you can turn the power off when the boat is in storage.
- Space and then more space -
To suit bay and flats fishing applications, the 200XT Pro has large, elevated casting decks at the bow and stern. Underneath the casting decks are various dry and wet storage areas.
At the bow you'll find a lockable rod locker that can stow ten smallish fishing outfits horizontally. The similar-sized locker on the starboard side and the centre casting deck locker are for dry storage.
A good sized anchor well is recessed into the casting deck at the bow, just aft of the trolling motor platform. Excellent stainless steel pop-up cleats surround the bow area and make for easy anchoring and a smooth deck surface with nothing to snag a fishing line.
In the centre of the forward platform is a base for mounting a fishing chair.
At the stern of the boat, two surprisingly comfortable padded seats flip-up from the front edge of the rear casting platform. In the folded-down position it is hard to pick they are even there as the deck surface is completed flush. Between the lift-up rear seats is plumbed live well boasting a capacity of 98 liters (25.9 gals.).
Other stern features include two rear bait storage lockers (with overboard drain), cup holders, more stainless pop-up cleats and 4 rod holders.
Separating the casting platforms is a center floor area with the center-console helm station and padded seat with icebox.
The two-person width helm seat/ice box is contained within a stainless-steel frame and is removable. The entire helm arrangement is quite comfortable.
The helm console is well designed and functional. A small windscreen is topped by a useful stainless steel grab rail. The fascia has just enough space for engine instruments and flush-mounted electronics, and the binnacle mount throttle box is well positioned.
A radio locker and glove box is situated under the helm. Beneath that there are two doors which open out to give easy access to the battery shelf.
Wiring for the instruments and electronics can be serviced from a locker on the forward face of the console. The locker is deep enough to stow several life jackets.
Other console features include a vertical rod rack to each side of the console and a bow facing console seat with a 38 liter (10 gals.) live well located underneath.
POWER AND PERFORMANCE
- Brisk performance with four-stroke power.
The supercharged four-cylinder Yamaha pushes the boat to a top speed of 40 knots -- A low plane is achieved at 2300rpm and a speed of eight knots.
The hull also maintains quite a flat, level attitude during the transition from displacement to plane -- which can be attributed to the shallow transom hull Vee and the hull extensions or built-in side pods that extend back past the keel of the hull on each side.
ON THE WATER
- Shallow dead rise for massive stability
Stability is a priority in the design of the 200XT and this is reflected in the shape of the hull. The 200XT has just 15 degrees of hull vee at the transom -- and this ensures the boat is incredibly stable.
In other areas the Sea Fox is equally impressive; the pronounced flare in the forward topsides keeps the boat very dry and the hull runs straight and true in a following sea.
A safe, well-built boat for bay, lake and costal anglers.
For bay and flats style tournament fishing, the Sea Fox 200XT has most bases covered. It is very stable, dry and it performs well with power.
As a fishing platform the Sea Fox has few peers. It's loaded with standard fishing features and there is a great deal of open, uncluttered deck space.
As a family boat it has ample seating (easily seats 6) and more than enough power for water skiing.
Put this together with the impressive build quality, the inclusion of positive flotation and a self-draining cockpit, and you've got one very special boat.
