Most folks in Mooresville work hard, but they play hard, too. And in a city known for an abundance of clear skies and warm weather, residents are often seen heading outdoors to walk, bike, skate or go boating and fishing. The Mooresville Town Council has taken note of this penchant for active lifestyles and is investing heavily in municipal parks and recreation facilities. The city's nine parks, greenway, skate park and other amenities make it one of the most recreation-friendly small towns in the region. Just a short drive away from town is Lake Norman, part of the North Carolina state park system. Lake Norman has 32,510 acres for skiing, boating and fishing. Although much of the shoreline is private, public access is available at Stumpy Creek Park and Boat Launch.
