While Severna Park, Maryland, isn't a tourist stop, nearby attractions in Anne Arundel County keep people entertained. The county houses the famed U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Visitors to the area can learn about the Navy, see a jousting performance and catch a Broadway-style show. Severna Park sits nine miles northwest of Annapolis and 19 miles south of Baltimore. Visitors can swim in the Chesapeake Bay's northwestern shore. Other water-related activities include fishing, crabbing for the Chesapeake Bay blue crab and boating from one of the park's 22 launching ramps. The 786-acre park also offers hiking, including a natural environmental area extending roughly four miles around the park. The park's headquarters is in Annapolis.
