The starting point for the 240 Explorer is a conventional mildly vee hull. With an 8-foot-six-inch beam. The deck on a boat of this size has a remarkable amount of additional room. The sheer number of amenities available, and takes full advantage of all that space to pack in just about everything a family wants or needs for a day on the water.
Boarding is a breeze from any direction. From dockside, you simply open the boarding door on the port side and use the built-in step to reach the cockpit.
When she is nosed bow-first into the beach, just lower the hidden bow boarding ladder and climb directly into the boat. This 240 is easily trailerable.
If you're swimming or waterskiing, that same bow ladder also keeps your family far away from the stern drive.
But that's just the beginning. Using the full beam from bow to stern, this Monterey has added spacious seating areas with high backrests.
Aft, an L-shaped settee wraps around the port side and across the transom, stopping just short of the walk-through door/windshield to the transom. There's plenty of storage under the seating, including an area for a pull-out ice chest.
With waterskiing obviously an attribute of the Explorer, it's no surprise to find a solid tow ring and handrail on the stern, as well as a spacious under-cockpit storage locker for skis and kneeboards.
Forward, there's a wrap-around lounge. Not only does it provide bow-riding space for guests but, with the convertible table, it can also be an entertainment and dining center as well.
Hidden in the extended helm console is an amenity that is going to be appreciated; an enclosed head compartment with a portable toilet and a molded liner for easy cleaning.
Per the owner, all the features of this boat are in great working condition and they include a new premium Sony in-dash CD player and Lowrance GPS/ Fishfinder.
The helm, with a molded footrest and bucket seat, including the Bimini top (a full camper enclosure as well), with waterproof speakers, in-dash depth sounder, docking lights hour-meter to name a few.
There are some scratches along the side of the boat through general wear and tear. The interior cushions still have great color with little to no fading.
There are a couple of tears under one of the seats where the ice chest slides in and out. Additionally, she is trailerable on the 2001 dual axle Trail-rite, although one brake line is in need of repair.
Otherwise, she looks great for her age and has been well-cared for, according to the last two owners.
60-day Sea Tow membership* comes standard with your boat purchase!
