We are proud to label this boat sold. Hope to see you in Los Angeles!
One of the earliest Boston Whaler models available in the 16-foot hull, the Nauset (pronounced "NAW-sit") featured an elaborate mahogany center console. The 1970 Whaler catalog described it this way: Easy for one man to haul and launch with a trailer, The Nauset can negotiate in safety and reasonable comfort the wildest waters ever used for pleasure boating.
The Nauset was considered one of the models that Boston Whaler's reputation was built on.
This particular gorgeous Nauset was recently professionally restored by a local boat manufacturer. Taken as far down as grinding down the gel coat on the interior of the boat, the restoration was done to the original 1965 blueprints for the Nauset.
Instead of the original Mahogany called for in the blueprints, Teak was used for the center console. The majority of the console is built from solid teak, with laminate used very sparingly. There are a couple of original parts on the boat to authenticate the aesthetics of the restoration. The Stainless Steel, the horn, windows and the steering wheel are original. Everything else is new.
She has dual batteries in parallel, with a switch located under the helm bench. A Bruce anchor and 150 feet of 8 plait rode and chain round out the package.
She'll run at 28 mph comfortably and safely with Boston Whaler's legendary hull.
This Nauset was finished by the boat shop in August 2015. The Teak's been finished to withstand the elements, with 4 coats of Captain's varnish and 4 coats clear Dupont Urethane. The inside of the console is finished as well.
The little things are what make this Whaler special, such as the electrical for the battery run in a specially designed tunnel with fiberglass conduit to keep everything tidy and secure. The engine came from another boat. Although it's a 2008 model, it was not put into service until 2010 and was last serviced in August 2015 before installation.
The original side rails are not currently installed on the boat, but they will come with the sale.
You'll be very proud to own this gorgeous Boston Whaler.
