1976 Mako 23 Fishing Boat in Marco Island, Florida

Stock #178498

If you love classic Makos or just want a super solid boat with a great ride, then this 1976 Mako 23 is for you. The hull was laid down in 1976 but absolutely everything in this boat except for the outside shell dates to 2017 or newer.

This vessel underwent an extensive professional rehabilitation, being stripped down to the hull - stringers and all. Every sliver of wood was removed from the boat - over 900lbs worth, and replaced with Coosa structural fiberglass boards and panels.

The stringers were rebuilt to be solid bulkheads from the hull to the deck for added strength for both the hull and deck. Fiberglass gussets were added to tie the transom, deck, and hull together for extra strength knowing that a transom bracket was being added.

The decks were raised 1" to adjust the balance and ride with the transom bracket.

Speaking of the transom bracket, it is a an all aluminum bracket, powder coated to match the boat. Moving the motor aft make this 23' boat handle more like a 27'.

Hanging on that bracket is a 2002 Yamaha F225XCA engine with approximately 1000 hours on it. The exhaust and mid-section were recently replaced after the corrosion typical of this model year was discovered. You should not ever have to worry about midsection corrosion again.

Every bit of wiring and plumbing was replaced. A new 80 gallon aluminum fuel tank was installed. The fuel tank was coated in Line-X to prevent corrosion.

All new Coosa board decks were constructed with new hatches and hatch hardware. A custom livewell was constructed at the transom with a see-through lid. The original helm console was refurbished and reinstalled with new hardware. The engine is steered with a hydraulic steering system.

In addition to being a fantastic fishing machine, this Mako is a floating stereo system. It comes with a Fusion UHD 750 stereo head tied to 8 kicker speakers through a sweet amplifier.

Total boat control is managed through the Simrad GO7 GPS/Chartplotter/Fishfinder that also manages the stereo through a NMEA 2000 network. Three batteries keep the engine starting and the tunes playing, topped off by a three bank battery charger.

If you find yourself out doing some night fishing or coming home after a sunset booze cruise, the LED under gunwale lighting keeps the decks lit while a wide LED light bar on the hardtop lights up the water in front of you. A full set of LED navigation lights keeps you legal.

Fishermen will appreciate the 14 rod holders spread between 4 gunwale holders, 4 leaning post holders, and 6 rocket launchers. The transom live well provides plenty of space to keep your bait frisky until it's their turn on the hook while the insulated fish box under the helm console bench makes sure your catch stays fresh until it gets home.

A lovely blue paint job rounds out this excellent rebuild. The paint was intentionally done in a matte finish to keep her looking great without having to constantly polish and wax the hull.

No detail went untouched on this fantastic Mako 23. What you get in this boat is a modern fishing vessel built on one of the most stable, strongest center console hulls ever constructed. They don't build them like this anymore because they didn't build them like this 44 years ago.

Advertisement is for vessel only. Trailer is not being offered for sale by POP Yachts.
Information On Condition

This may be a 1976 hull, but everything inside the skin of the boat is 2017 and newer. Every piece of the vessel works perfectly and functions as it should. The paint, powder coating, and non-skid is all in excellent condition.
