1976 Pearson 35 Cruiser Sailboat in Cocoa, Florida

Stock #104885

Although located in Canada, due to Canadian regulations, this boat is not available for sale to potential buyers in Canada.

The Pearson 35 is very sturdy classic sailor. (see Twenty Affordable Sail Boats to Take You Anywhere, by Gregg Nestor)

Hornblower is well maintained and lovingly cared for by her former and current owner. She is pictured in a feature story in the September 2014 issue of Good Old Boat magazine, by Brian Buck.

With her full modified keel, Hornblower is ideal for sailing in the shallow Florida and Bahamian waters. More than once she has gone through some tough blows off shore.

Hornblower is a basic solid cruiser. She does not have AC, or hot water or electric refrigeration.

She does have a modified insulated icebox that keeps 40lbs of ice cubes 6 to 7 days in the Florida sun, and a "Force 20 SS 3 burner w/oven propane stove.

The construction is a solid fiberglass hull with a balsa cored deck to reduce weight up high. The 5,400 pounds of lead ballast is distributed in the full keel cavity while the centerboard is fiberglass laminate. Pearson used molded liners overhead and pans below to provide the interior structure and rigidity. Wood grain or off white plastic laminates fit out the interior bulkheads, ceilings, and cabinetry. Aloft is a 44′ 6″ clearance sloop rig, stepped on deck, and supported below by a weight-bearing bulkhead.

The keel itself is full and runs way aft. With the centerboard up it only draws 3'9".

The cockpit is spacious with wheel steering and ST6002 Autopilot. There are spacious lockers under the seats.

The whole cockpit is covered with a Bimini and dodger combination for maximum protection from the elements.

Coming down the companionway, there's a full galley area that stretches from port to starboard with a "Force 10" Stainless 3 burner propane stove with oven and lots of cupboard space.

The interior cabin has teak plywood bulkheads and solid teak trim throughout. Doors and drawers are solid teak or trimmed in teak. The teak is in excellent condition and finished with "Minwax Tung Oil" to bring out the rich teak color and make maintenance easy.

Settees are port and starboard and there is an insert to create a double berth. There's a 2 leaf folding table that folds against the forward bulkhead when not in use. Again, lots of storage on the sides behind and under the cushions.

Going forward there is a locker to starboard and storage space and to port is the fully enclosed head with toilet, sink and shower with sump pump.

Forward there is a V-berth with insert to convert it to a double.

The 2009 Beta 28 HP diesel engine is very accessible under the detachable companionway stairs.

Information On Condition

Current owner is the second owner and has owned her since 2001.

Engine hours are owner's estimate.

Since then he has made numerous improvements and enhancements to make this boat even better.

In February of this year she was hauled out for new bottom paint and hull inspection. The picture shown is her haul out.

The fiberglass bottom was shaved to remove all blisters and then coated with 3 coats of "Ceram-Koteote 99" in October 2002. The bottom is blister free.

The topsides were professionally sptay painted with "Sterling Polyurethane" Shamrock Green paint in December 2008. The waterline is white.

The V-Berth, head and passageway portlights were replaced with "New Found Metals" Stainless Steel opening ports in 2003.

The V-Berth and main cabin overhead hatches were replaced with teak custom made hatches in 2004.

In 2009 a new Beta 28HP Diesel was installed as well as a new mast and SS rigging including LED anchor, steaming and deck light. New LED nav. lights on deck.

Custom made fiberglass propane gas box holds 6lb gas bottles mounted on aft rail.

Cabin top hand rails replaced with teak rails in 2004. New PVC covered lifelines and lifeline stanchions with gates port and starboard.

A new 17 gallon aluminum fuel tank was installed in 2011. Tank has a large cover plate that can be opened for inspection and cleaning.

Jabsco Amazon cockpit mounted high volume manual bilge pump.

Includes 3 1/2 HP Nissan Outboard, Hatch Wind Scoop
