1977 Block Island 40 Cruiser Sailboat in Staten Island, New York

Stock #113280

The Block Island 40' is a custom built sailing vessel designed by Bill Tripp with the hull cast by Metal Mast Marine. The hull was cast in 1975 and registered in 1977.

My conversation with the owner was very informing about the seaworthiness of this vessel. The story started off Cape May riding out a Category 3 Hurricane. Needless to say, the Block Island 40 survived and continued sailing from Point Pleasant New Jersey to Key Largo.

As a live-aboard the father-in-law spent over 20 years traveling everywhere. The Sea Flower was inherited by the current owner and continued sailing through 2009. Growing family plans then Super Storm Sandy found her being on the hard for too many years.

The Sea Flower being on of the few vessels surviving Sandy at Great Kills National Park. The owner would like her to be enjoyed by the next generation of sailors.

Both the father-in-law and current owner have enough parts and tools on board to open a marine store. Too much inventory to list in this advertisement.

Ideally, this would be a good project boat for someone who is handy. Most likely all the necessary parts are on board to get the Block Island 40 back out at sea. Someone who KNOWS and can organize is essential on this project.

The sellers are in Georgia so the vessel is being sold were as. No Sea Trials. Based on my conversations with the owner there are no structural issues to prevent from sailing.

Information On Condition

The Block Island is a project boat and will require engine and rigging work prior to any sea trial. Boat is being sold "As is Condition".

The Marina allows owners to work on their boats. Great boat for a DIY Sailor.

The vessel has been on the hard for the ten seasons. The owner recently moved to Georgia and is planning to sell whereas with all the gear, supplies, and tools. Almost too much to list.
