2004 Bruce Roberts 36A Flush Deck Cruiser Sailboat in Saint Augustine, Florida

Stock #181876

When the original builder of this Bruce Roberts 36A set out to build this cutter sloop he wanted a boat that was strong, stable, and easy to maintain.

Walking through this boat it is quickly evident that it was built with practicality in mind. For example, every piece of hardware attached to the outside has easy access to the backing plates and nuts on the inside. And, although the cabin is spacious, warm, and comfortable it was clearly designed with function and ease of care at the top of the priority list. The builder of this boat clearly wanted to spend far more time sailing it than he did maintaining it.

Outside, the boat has a sizable aft cockpit with tiller steering. There is a custom aluminum frame arch on the transom that includes dinghy davits with block and tackle, solar panel mounts, and antenna mounts. There is a pass-through gate in the safety rails that provides access to a drop-down boarding ladder, a mount for the outboard motor, and an Aries wind vane steering system.

In the cockpit, there is a Plexiglas windshield and fiberglass hardcover over the cabin access way and a canvas dodger/Bimini over the rest of the cockpit.

Moving forward there are several cabin hatches and air rams providing fresh air to the cabin.

The vessel features a sloop cutter standing rigging design with Isomat extruded aluminum mast and boom with internal halyards. The mast has double spreaders and all wire rope is stainless Imperial 1X19 attached with stay lock fittings.

All halyards are colored Dacron braided and all running rigging, although not new, appears to be in serviceable condition.

The sail inventory includes a slug main, high cut Genoa on a Harken roller furler, a code zero with pro-furler, a hank on staysail, and a drifter with a 3-inch whisker pole.

Moving forward, the bow pulpit has a stainless cap with an anchor roller davit, and a #40 Lewmar Delta fast set plow anchor with 200 ft of 5/16" chain and 100 ft of 5/8" line rode. Anchor retrieval is handled by a manual windlass. There is also a Guardian aluminum fluke anchor with 50' of 5/16" chain and 100" 5/8" nylon grade rode.

Down below this boat has an airy, open feel about it, and feels much roomier than the usual 36-footer. This is because of the white painted interior and lots of hatches for natural light.

You enter the cabin into a large salon with a nav table and quarter berth to port and the galley to starboard.

Readily accessible are the main battery switch, the engine hour meter and oil pressure gauge, the bilge pump switch, and the Sonsei solar panel regulator. Solar power is provided by two (2) 100-watt panels, one fixed and one portable.

The port quarter berth has unusually large access and aft of the quarter berth is easy access to the storage and gear space forward of the transom.

The large map desk includes easy visibility and access to the main DC electrical panel, the West Marine vhf600dsc VHF radio, and a Standard Horizon depth meter. Also within ready access is a Raymarine ST4000 autopilot (w/linear ram) and a YAESU FT840 SSB radio.

The galley includes a gimbaled LPG 2-burner stove/oven, and a Dan Foss 12V refrigerator/freezer under counter mounted unit, and a stainless steel sink with foot operated faucet.

The main salon includes a large settee to port and an L-shaped w/table to starboard. Both settees are designed to double as additional sleeping berths.

Forward of the salon is a large stateroom with single berths both port and starboard, with a sail locker below the starboard berth and lots of other storage below the port berth.

Forward of the stateroom is a full head with a new SPXFLOW toilet and a handheld shower.

Forward of the head/shower is more stowage and access to the chain locker.

There is lots of storage all through this cabin and most of it has latticed or louvered doors panels expanding the movement of air throughout.

Auxiliary propulsion is provided by a Kubota 32 HP diesel motor pushing a direct drive Newage 120D2 transmission. Exact age is unknown at this time. There is convenient engine/mechanical access from all sides..

Dinghy included: 2016 Newport 8'8" RIB w/3HP Yamaha OB
