1985 Hunter 34 Cruiser Sailboat in Venice, Florida

Stock #130192

Although located in Canada, due to Canadian regulations, this boat is not available for sale to potential buyers in Canada.

If you're looking for a comfortable and affordable liveaboard or a shallow draft (4 feet three inches) cruiser that's perfect for the islands, then you must have a look at this Hunter.

The boat is owned by a Licensed Captain who bought her three years ago and did a number of upgrades. He is too busy now to enjoy her and wants her to go to a good home.

The Hunter 34 was a boat ahead of her time. With a full beam creating a very roomy 34' boat, moderate draft, with both good speed and handling made her a very popular boat both then and now.

The boat sports a B & R Rig for strength and performance.

This boat is very roomy for her size. It has the standard vee berth forward with an enclosed head behind..sink/vanity on port and toilet to starboard making for a very spacious head space..perfect for living aboard.

The main cabin has settees port and starboard with a large table that can convert to a double bed. There is plenty of storage above and under the seats.

From the companionway, there is a fully equipped galley to starboard and a navigation center to port.

Behind the nav. station you will find a large enclosed double berth.

A really nice feature is the Mermaid 16,500BTU Air Conditioner.

On deck, there is lots of room for 6 in the cockpit, and all lines lead aft. The twin spreader rig supports the fully battened main and roller furling genoa.

On the transom, there's a swim ladder an outboard engine lift and BBQ grill.

There's a 20HP Yanmar 3GMF Diesel under the companionway to move you along efficiently when needed.

This is a well set up and maintained sailboat both above and below and should provide many more years of pleasure to her new owner.

Information On Condition

The owner is a Licensed Captain and bought the boat three years ago.

He maintains the boat in very good condition.

He has never used the stove or oven.

When he bought the boat:

- The Air Conditioner was new
- The bottom was painted
- Autopilot was new
- New hoses and clamps for the head.

Since buying the boat, he has made the following updates:

- New Stainless Steel Exhaust Elbow on engine - July 2016
- Replaced all opening windows and installed a plexiglass cover on the main cabin windows using special waterproof caulking.

The bottom is cleaned by a diver regularly.

Needed:

Bimini top needs a patch where the bimini top chafes against the boom
Solar vents on coachroof probably need new batteries.

Seller may take a 17ft Boston Whaler in trade, possibly a smaller racing sailboat like j24/27.

Personal items like swimming gear and fishing gear not included.

Here is some additional information on the rig:

The B & R rig utilizes 30 degree swept-back spreaders creating 120 degrees between each riggingpoint. This tripod arrangement is similar to the huge radio towers you see from the highways. Hunter says the benefits of this rig include:

The strength is increased because the loading to the rig itself is decreased. Less movement of the rig itself means less fatigue on the rigging which is usually the primary culprit of failures.

This design allows for a more efficient mainsail with a larger roach for increased performance. This means less work for the crew in that the power sail is the main.

The shrouds are led outboard which reduces compression loads to the deck and hull while allowing tighter sheeting angles on the smaller jib for better windward performance. With the addition of the newly created mast struts, the point loading at the mast base is spread among the three points and the extra support allows for a smaller mast section. This reduction in weight aloft decreases heeling and pitching moments which creates a more comfortable ride. Not only is the rig more secure but the design of a large, easily handled main and a small jib make sail trimming and handling much easier than the conventional rigs with their large genoas.
