1977 Jeanneau Melody 34 Cruiser Sailboat in Anacortes, Washington

Stock #198549

Take a look at this repowered 34' Jeanneau that has been well cared for by all 3 owners.

This model was built for those long cruises where you can feel comfortable on the high seas.

The owner really appreciated how good handling this boat was in dangerous seas.

This cruiser was very easy to cruise for 2 people.

Others have said that The Melody is an honest, strong, powerful cruiser that gives some modern ones a good run for their money.

The seller provided the following:
Anyway, going through it I made the following list of maintenance items I never got to, or felt they weren't essential, and thought it would be good to pass it along:

Spreader lights - they both need replacing. I don't particularly like them on any boat as they ruin your night vision and a red headlamp is most I use or a serious searchlight on the main (there is a searchlight onboard) if you want to draw attention to yourself (traffic). There is a foredeck light that is part of the steaming light which does work.
SSB antenna. I am pulling in the time tick, and some other stations, but the signal seems weak. I checked the connections and ground plate and they look good and it could be time to replace the SSB antenna which is a hoisted wire core inside abraded covering. They are readily available/easy to swap out, just haven't done that as I haven't felt the need to use it in the Puget Sound area. If we were to head up to Alaska or go offshore Pacific I would definitely have a radio guy check it out.
Bilge pump alarm - the boat is ridiculously dry. The last time we were onboard was October and it has rained steadily out here in Pac NW for a month at least. Bilge is dry with bilge pump off. The reason the bilge pump is off is there is an alarm that is activated when it is in the on position. Not running, mind you, but on. Totally unacceptable and that switch needs to be replaced. FYI boat has the electric rule bilge pump, a cockpit hand pump near helm station, and a portable emergency hand pump stowed near aft quarter berth.
Engine panel - the engine panel has a hinged dogged plexiglass port for accessing key/controls. One of the hinges is broken and I have not been able to find a replacement. Easy swap out, just haven't been able to find the replacement.
Mainsail cover - the main is fine, but the cover may only have a couple more years in it. We replaced the dodger and Bimini for that reason and the cover is probably next.
