The Bayfield 29C is known to be a very high quality built boat with a unique design. The Bayfield is a great choice for cruising. It is a comfortable, sturdy design, plenty of room below decks to make an extended cruise or day sail comfortable. With a long keel and attached rudder and hull with deep forefoot the Bayfield has a maximum draft of 3' 6" it performs well but also can access many anchorages other sailboats this size cannot.
The Bayfield is a cutter rig, with a staysail and topsail configuration. This type of rigging provides a practical means to reduce sail area. The boat features a full complement of sails which include a main sail, self-furling jib, staysail, and a gennaker with a snuffer.
Entering the aft cockpit through the lifeline, you'll find opposing bench seats port and starboard, ignition, tach, oil, electric and trouble indicator lights, shore power hook-up, emergency bilge pump, and engine hour meter. There is a traveler on the aft railing. The bench seats open to reveal storage 0n starboard, the A/C unit and storage on port.
There is a Raytheon 4000 autopilot, Raytheon 60 Tridata (speed and depth) and apparent wind instrument mounted near the cabin entryway to be easily read from the helm. The Bayfield also included 7 Lewmar winches; 4 in the cockpit and 3 for the halyard.
Below decks, you'll find a departure from the normal interior design. Crew sleeping is provided via two quarter-berths, a single settee berth to port, and a double pullout settee berth to starboard.
There is an L-shaped galley to starboard as you enter down the cabin stairs. The galley is equipped with Stainless Steel sink with sink, two burner alcohol stove with safety lid and cutting board built in. There is cabinet space below the sink and stove for storage.
To port is an icebox. Below the icebox is more cabinet storage and the drain to the icebox. Behind the icebox is the nav station.
Amidships are two bulkhead walls. These bulkheads contain sliding teak dividers that allow for more privacy for the main salon.
The salon area is carpeted with a settee on either side with a fixed folding table that the mast decends through. The table also features a bottle rack.
Where there is normally a V-berth, you'll find a larger than normal head compartment. The head compartment has large lockers, molded sump with teak grate on the floor for showering, and a head.
The engine is easily accessible via a hatch in the cockpit floor.
The Bayfield 29C is a comfortable, sturdy design with big water capability that allows you to cruise in comfort and access shallow anchorages due to its unusual shallow draft for a boat this size.
