The Westsail 43 is a great offshore cruiser.
This diamond in the rough needs a sailor to bring her back to her former glory and sail her around the world!
The aft cockpit has a nice dodger and bimini. The cockpit electronics aboard consist of a Raymarine GPS/plotter at the helm mounted on a stainless steel binnacle mount. The compass was rebuilt and calibrated in 2012.
The primary winches are electric Lewmar Ocean 50's. Photovoltaic solar panels totaling 420 watts are mounted on the stainless steel Well's Marine arch/ davits and provide power to the house bank (880 amp.hrs.) through a Morningstar MPPT controller.
Forward on deck is a dual windlass for anchor retrievals. Numerous deck hatches are below for great airflow!
If offshore extended journeys are in your plans there is a Spectra 180 GPD water maker, enabling a couple to cruise almost indefinitely.
Forward is a V-berth with a "pie" shaped wedge on the centerline that can be easily removed if you want two single berths. The port side has a workbench under the cushions, and the starboard side has storage under for the 2012 suite of sails, not on the Profurl roller furling systems above.
Aft on the port side has the head/shower, and to starboard a hanging locker and lots of drawer space. The head door also closes off the main salon so she can be divided into three separate staterooms.
Aft to port is a U-shaped dinette with a folding table that has space inside for storage. A Sig Marine diesel-fired heater is just behind the dinette.
The refrigeration compartment is top-loading and 12 cu. ft. divided into freezer and fridge, both on their own Fridge-a-Boat Danfoss compressors upgraded in 2012.
The Captain's quarters are aft of the chart table to starboard and has a berth for two. Under the berth is storage and two dedicated engine start batteries along with a Heart 2000 inverter/100amp battery charger with a Link 2000R smart regulator.
Aft of the galley is a single berth to port. The galley has a microwave and a 2 burner LP Gourmet II stove and oven.
This Westsail has been sitting on the hard for 5 years so she will need some work before she is bluewater ready again. The autopilot works but has a leak in the reservoir.
All mechanical and operational systems on this Westsail need to be evaluated and tested as to their current operating condition. Most functions of this vessel work properly when she was put on the hard . The sailboat was just professionally fumigated. 4/2022 The plywood framework under the teak and Holly flooring in the forward salon floor, next to the galley and v berth areas have some soft spots. The flooring will need to be pulled up and new plywood put down, per the seller. The starboard side of the arch needs a little welding.
This Westsail is a true Bluewater sailboat, she has traveled many oceans on her voyages!
