We are proud to label this sailboat sold. Going to a new home in Kirkland, WA!
This classic 17' Whitehall Spirit Expedition model retails in the US for $45,000 brand new and I have been told they last for 100 years. She is manufactured by hand in Canadia with fiberglass, teak trims and all the teak removable floor. For rowing she included add-ons such as both the traditional fixed seats and the easily removable slide-seat for sculling and 3 sets of oars.
She also comes with the full sailing setup: Beautifully varnished Spruce mast, mainsail, jib, rigging, rudder and folding tiller all in pristine condition. This rig is fast and easy to set up. The free-standing mast requires no stays or wires and simply lifts out to stow within the boat. The mainsail on this standing lug style rig can be tacked across in full control using only the mainsheet. Reefing gear is standard, and the mainsail can be reefed while out on the water.
Can sail in shallow water due to its kick-up rudder and bronze centerboard. The large sail area possible on a low mast reduces the heeling movement of the boat (tendency to tip) without sacrificing performance.
Constantly this Whitehall is getting compliments, and anyone will become quite attached to this classic and beautiful little classic. Were hoping to find a great home with someone who really can appreciate the value, craftsmanship and design.
The hull is hand-laid fiberglass, impeccably finished inside and out.
The woodwork is solid teak finished in hand-rubbed oil, meaning maintenance is not an issue and will require only about three hours per year.
Copper rivets and roves are used on the gunnel, and the metal fittings are custom-cast bronze. The hull shape is characterized by a nearly straight stem, and slight flare to the bow, rounded sides, with a keel running the entire length of the bottom and a distinctive wine glass transom with a full skeg.
Considered one of the most beautiful row-boats, they are designed to handle the harbor chop and yet track straight.
60-day Sea Tow membership* comes standard with your boat purchase!
