This 2015 SOUTHSHORE DOWNEAST 34 is a rare find! If you are looking for a classic Downeast hull based on an award winning design, then this is the boat for you. This hull was molded off the wooden boat, The Marie Belle, which won the Jonesport Lobster Races in 1986!
She is equipped for and has been lightly used as a 6-passenger charter vessel for both off-shore, deep-sea fishing and inshore striped bass fishing - along with tuna fishing and hauling the seller's lobster traps. She has boarded her share of tuna in the last few years as well!!
The cabin and cockpit have been highly customized for commercial 6 pack fishing charters based on the seller's 50 years of experience. The cabin will accommodate everyone in rough weather. The cockpit is huge with a large custom fishbox, separate guest icebox and a large custom livewell. Plus the separate helm station adjacent to the pot hauler.
According to the seller, the original hull was laid up and built-in 1988 in Peter Ratcliff's shop with the help of John Oceretko and the supervision of Calvin Beal. This was Hull #2 out of the mold and was never put into service until 2015 when she was splashed for her first season..
The hull was always kept indoors and out of all weather conditions in a garage or barn. When the current owner was looking for a Hull, he found this 34' Southshore in Florida and had it shipped up to Newburyport to be completed and finished.
