The Sea Ray 240 Sundancer is a great starter boat for a small family, and thanks to being of legal width for highway towing without a permit, offering the capability to experiment with different styles of boating, from close coastal cruising to inland lakes and waterways.
Further, the heavier build of this boat, averaging three to six hundred pounds more fiberglass in construction than lesser brands of the same size, gives a smoother and more confident ride at higher speeds in rougher water. The boat will be able to handle any conditions a sensible captain would encounter, and in some cases perhaps save the senseless ones from perishing as well.
The cockpit is roomy with plenty of seating, a bench for two or three astern and a pair of angled buckets in an open settee arrangement to port, as well as a bench with flip-up bolster for the captain and companion at the helm.
At the helm is a modern, ergonomic set of high-contrast engine instruments, full controls including trim tabs, GPS navigation as well as good all-around visibility.
Down below the cabin has a convertible dinette/berth forward and a full-sized mid-cabin berth aft, as well as a full galley and head with shower and pump-out porta-potty toilet.
As for the machinery, the engine is a low-hour, multi-port fuel-injected 260 horsepower Mercruiser turning a Bravo Three counter-rotating, torque canceling twin-prop drive for easy of trim and docking.
So, basically what you have is a solid, well made and compact sport cruiser of the same quality as the larger model in the brand one might grow into. Sea Ray is a ubiquitous brand with high customer loyalty. They are everywhere for good reasons, nobody ever got fired for choosing Sea Ray.
The photos tell the story, the vessel interior is in typical cosmetic condition for its age. The exterior could use a good detailing and perhaps new snap-down carpeting in the cockpit. Also, some dock rash and the hull is probably ready for a strip job, but serviceable.
Mechanically in good condition, everything works and the boat runs well, according to the owner.
