1977 Island Trader 40 Ketch Sailboat in Rock Hall, Maryland

Stock #091025

Although located in Canada, due to Canadian regulations, this boat is not available for sale to potential buyers in Canada.

This beautiful classic Ketch is an unfinished Dream. The owner and her Husband purchased this fine boat to sail the seas when they retired. As avid sailors, they took their time to find this 1977 Island Trader 40 the WANDERING STAR. It is hard not to fall in love with this sail boats classic lines, wood trim, hand laid fiberglass hull, and beautifully appointed varnished teak wood interior and decks. Having recently been up graded to a 75 H.P. Yanmar Diesel engine and power plant, they knew the bones of this boat where sound.

Worked started on the boat last year, cleaning the hull, new bottom paint being applied, things where progressing forward. This boat was not without faults. They knew to do serious blue water cruising the wooden mast and booms had to be replaced. A contract to re-rig the ketch was put into effect in which the wood masts and booms would be refit with aluminum, custom fit for this boat. Work started and materials where collected. The old masts and booms where taken down and the supporting rigging was removed.

A DREAM was coming to fruition. Two masts were found that needed some customization with booms. New rigging was being assembled. Re-rigging was about to commence when the dream ended by the sudden death of the sellers husband.

As the boat sits now waiting to be finished this is where we are:

- Wooden masts and booms are down.
- Aluminum masts and booms are waiting to be customized to fit this boat.
- Engine and drive train have been upgraded.
- Electronics include - JCR Radar 1000, Maxima audio system, Garmin GPS/Fish Finder and a Marine radio.
- Three burner stove and oven, Double stainless steel sink and microwave fill out the galley.
- Toilet, sink vanity and full shower comprise the head.

When completed, this ketch will turn heads when under sail or while motoring. The Teak wood detail outside and inside the cabin provide an old world feel that is no longer found in sail boats. If you are looking for a rare comfortable classic blue water ketch seriously look at this boat. Complete the Dream that has been started and make it your own.
