1979 Sandpiper 44 Ketch Sailboat in Merritt Island, Florida

Stock #149173

RIBIT is a custom built 44' ketch designed by well-known yacht designer, Steve Seaton and built in Palm Beach, Fla. by the high-end builder, Liberty yachts in 1979.

The engine is a Westerbeke/Leland 4Cyl, 75HP with a Borg Warner transmission. The propeller pitch can be varied from the cockpit with the Hundestad controls.

This classic boat is a shoal-draft cruising Ketch which is ideal for Florida and the Bahamas. Her draft is only three feet eight inches with the centerboards raised and seven feet with the boards down. There are 2 centerboards on this Ketch to give greater control over handling and balancing. To help with stability, RIBIT has 14,000 lbs of ballast.

RIBIT has a full suite of sails including a new set of storm sails. The lines are led aft to self-tailing winches.

Down below is spacious with the Galley to Port with a Shipmate Kerosene stove and oven, a deep double sink, and a double refrigerator compartment with both an engine driven compressor and a double holding plate system. Under the sink is the 12V fridge compressor and a Pure Water Maker.

Opposite the Galley to Starboard is the Navigation station with plenty of room for charts and electronics.

The salon has an L-shaped settee to Port and a settee to Starboard with Pilot berths on each side above the settees. In between is a double folding table which houses one of the centerboards.

The head with shower is forward of the Salon to Port. A large hanging locker is opposite to Starboard. The forepeak is reserved for storage with a workbench in the center.

The walk-in engine room is accessed through a door next to the chart table. The engine room has a large workbench, a tool chest and good access to the engine.

The owner's stateroom is aft of the center cockpit and has large berths on either side and a head to Port. There is ample storage here including another hanging locker.

All documentation and logs are available for RIBIT as are the original building plans and hull core plugs showing the construction.

RIBIT is not a project boat - she is ready to load up and start cruising.
