1970 Spencer 53' Ketch:

MUST SELL! "As Is..Where is"

Will consider trades or owner financing. All offers considered.

Live aboard or sail the world in this Spencer 51 Ketch. Spencer Boats Ltd. in British Columbia built custom sailboats to owners specifications, and their 51/53s were designed for long range cruising.

Owner has had the boat for 15 years.

The hull is hand laid and the deck and topsides are cored.

He has sailed it to Central America and made 3 trips to Cuba as well as cruising around the Bahamas.

Thirty of the 51 & 53 models were built, and this is hull #3.

The deck is spacious and a good working surface. There are very sturdy dinghy davits and a grill on the back.

- Pro-furl
- Furuno Radar
- Dinghy Davits

Information On Condition

Pictures 152 to end were taken on March 28, 2019
Pictures 88 to 151 were taken on 7/25/2018

As of March 2018 -

The fully battened main sail is less than 5 years old.

The Roller Furling Genoa is about 6 years old.

There is also a selection of older hank on sails.

Mizzen is in good condition per seller.

All running rigging was replaced within the last 7 years.

This is a fixer upper project boat that, with some work, may make a great world cruiser. The owner frequently travels on contract work and hasn't had as much time to devote to working on the boat as he needs.

The boat is on the hard currently. The yard will allow owner to work on it for anything above the waterline. There is electricity available with an extension cord.

As can be seen in the photos, the bottom needs to be done. It is ready to paint after a light sanding.

Extensive de-cluttering topsides and below is also needed.

Some woodwork will need to be replaced or repaired.

There is a single head, seller has a new toilet but it has not been installed. Plumbing is installed aft for an additional head if desired.

Seller says the engine runs well.

Approximate boat location: Palmetto, Florida
