We are proud to label this sailboat sold. Denver, CO, here she comes!!
The Ta Chiao is a classic Bill Garden Ketch with a 1-inch fiberglass hull, and a nice list of equipment. It is a proven blue water or trade winds voyager. She tracks well with its full keel, and it is a great family or couples cruiser, sleeping 6 with a private stateroom with a Pullman berth, 2 settee berths, a dinette that sleeps 2, and a private head with shower.
Recent maintenance and upgrades were done with the goal of long term ownership, but a move changed the owners plans. The recent equipment additions and equipment list alone cost about three times the asking price. A partial list of new items in the last 6 years includes Selden masts, x19 stays with sta-lok, spar, North sails, and canvas covers on the sails, the hatches, and the helm.
There is a rebuilt Perkins 4.108 diesel engine with less than 200 hours. It really isn't even broken in yet, providing you a real peace of mind. The electrical systems were rewired by Yachtfish with Blue Sea Panels, Xantrek inverter charger, hot water heater, new pumps, and three 8D batteries.
The ketch has a Garmin 740 with chart-plotter, sonar, GPS, radar, and a VHF radio all on one screen. While you cruise or relax in port you will appreciate the Alpine 118M stereo with 4 Yamaha speakers and the sub panel next to bed in the stateroom.
The construction has been updated with new a new bowsprit platform, Samson posts, cabin sole, chain-plates, and the fore-peak core was replaced with PX80 foam. There is generous tankage that gives extended range, and it is all in good working order.
The original interior teak carving and appointments are in excellent condition, and there is a butterfly mid hatch, and a deck prism in the forward hatch. Teak and mahogany cabinets and drawers cover every surface and all storage lockers are huge. The bronze portlights all work and are watertight, and are complimented with the interior milk glass light globes. There is quality throughout; no plastic.
In the galley you will find a 4-burner Dickenson stove with an oven & broiler supplied with a dedicated on-deck propane locker. There is also an under floor Webasto style forced air diesel heater that is not yet been installed.
The Ta Chiao ketch is in verygood condition, with many items updated and restored. There is still some TLC required to bring her back to full glory.
She can be enjoyed today with the newly installed shower fittings. You may want to repair the butterfly hatch, and update some of the bright work, mostly on the surrounding rails.
