1973 Santa Barbara Boat Builders Monk Design 42 Longliner Fishing in Honolulu, Hawaii

Stock #159698

This 1978 Santa Barbara Monk-Style 42' fishing boat has been completely rebuilt. The main engine has also been completely rebuilt with only 60 hours since rebuild.

She is currently USCG inspected for the commercial fishing trade. She was surveyed in mid-June, 2018 and deemed suitable for insurance and in "Above Average" condition. Replacement value was $500,000. Please see all details below.

With a recent haul-out and bottom job in June, 2018, she is ready to fish ... just bring ice and bait!

The Detroit Diesel 4-53N rebuild included:

-- Head and Blower
-- New Starter
-- New 150 Amps Alternator
-- 8 x 8D Batteries Split into 2 Banks
-- New 3:1 C72 Velvet Drive Transmission
-- 2" Stainless Steel Shaft
-- 30"/22" Propeller

There is spare a starter, alternator, a set of fuel injectors and rebuilt transmission with all tools, spare hoses, spare pumps, bolts, screws, wires, switches, oil and fuel filters for main and generator - everything you might need for future maintenance.

Other features and upgrades include:

-- 15kW Kubota Generator - Low Hours
-- 650 Gallon Fuel Tank (500 Gallons Currently in Tank - Included in Sale!)
-- 100 Gallon Fresh Water Tank
-- 15 Gallon Hydraulic Tank - Runs 3 Mile Longline Spool
-- 3 Bottom Fishing Reels
-- 1 Pinch Puller
-- All New Insulated Fish Boxes - Total 7,000 Lbs.

The main fish hold is refrigerated with a 12-volt refrigeration system. Without refrigeration, the 6" of insulation can hold ice up to 7 weeks. The bait freezer also runs off a 12-volt system and can hold 20 boxes of bait.

Fishing gear includes Complete Longline Gear with 500 hooks in two baskets as well as floats with strobe lights, flags and branch lines. Each of the three bottom reels has one mile of 600-pound test line. There is also a 25' green stick and around 40 rigged lures of different sizes. There are also two danglers, gaffs and headline.

When she was hauled in June, 2018 new cutlass bearings and a new dripless seal was installed. The hull was upgraded with bulbous bow rolling shocks and flattening of the back side of the hull, ensuring she is exceptionally solid on the water.

The entire vessel has been re-wired.

All electronics are new this new chip transducer.

The autopilot is also new with a 5 gallon hydraulic tank, new hydraulic hoses and steering arm. There are dual helms in the cabin and on deck.

All deck lights are LED, as well as one 4' thru-hull light to attack bait and fish at night.

The 400 watt 12 volts solar system on the flybridge ensures you will have power without relying on the batteries.

-- New Radios
-- Rebuilt Life Raft
-- Life Jackets

-- 24' Sea Anchor

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Originally built in 1973 as a Trawler/work vessel the vessel has been modified with a bow proboscis and underwater roll stabilizer planes. The hull proceeds from bow roller on anchoring platform with welded aluminum pipe railing.
The cabin top is fitted with welded pipe safety rail. Raised front deck with short FRP toe rail and anchor locker in center proceeds around cabin to step down to aft deck and starboard to the aft steering station near the rail.
On deck integrated fish holds and brine boxes have been built onto the deck and heavily fiberglassed.
A two part hatch for fis hhold is center on the back deck and raised brine boxes with hatches fore and aft.
Longline spool is mounted starboard forward of fish hold with 3 miles of steel core line. Three one mile spool reels for fishing are positioned and a pinch puller port near cabin entrance.
The fish hold is electrically refrigerated.
Deck equipment is of recent installation and most of the gear is new.
Aft deck is covered with sunbrella awning on heavy welded aluminum frame.
At the transom rail is a fish door and a drop in locker/fish box can be removed to access lazarette/steering.
The main cabin is entered to port with a custom fiberglass bait freezer to port and counter forward with helm to port and controls and gauges to starboard.
Center is an entryway to foc'sle with berthing for one and access to the fuel tank.
Powered engine room vents run through drained P-traps here also.
Two newer opening port lights are in the hull to either side.
Concrete has been poured in the low areas of the bilges for ballast, reported to be around 4,000 pounds.
The vessel has both 12 volt DC and 110VAC systems.
Batteries for engine start and house are in two locations.
Five 8D batteries are in the cabin to port under the counter and another bank of three 8D batteries in the engine room forward.
Batteries are charged by either the 150 Amp Leese/Neville alternator on the main engine, Prosport 20 amp battery charger mounted on the engine room bulkhead or 400 watt solar panel mounted on the flybridge. Generator battery either alternator or Prosport 6 amp charger mounted above.
Bank selection is controlled by a single vaporproof switch on the engine room bulkhead forward and two on off type switches control 12 volt refrigeration and ships electrical power. Three 8 ganged panels, two at
the helm and one to port control tributary circuits.
One additional 3 ganged panel is to port for refrigeration compressor controls.
110 VAC power is supplied only by the generator. No shore power is present.
Tributary circuits are controlled by an eight ganged panel on the cabin aft bulkhead
Engine gauges at the helm include RPM, water temperature, oil pressure, amp gauge and Comnav rudder indicator. Morse controls, jogger stick.
Autopilot control unit and 4" lighted compass are located here as well as key switch, shutdown button and start lockout switch.
