Licensed Vessel Marketing Manager
Residence: Sarasota, on the border of Myakka River State Park
Family: Husband and Son, Noa
Time with POP Yachts: A year and a half, so I consider myself an old timer. I'm fortunate to have seen the baby steps we took to get where we are today. It's been a real adventure.
Q: How did you get started with POP Yachts?
A: The hiring manager knew me from a previous job and invited me to work here. I actually knew about a half dozen people from day 1, which provided me a lot of support.
Q: What were you doing before?
A: My husband and I created a business, Organic America, that delivered produce to homeowners in Sarasota that we brought in fresh each week from all over the country. Prior to that, I had a business installing residential and commercial landscapes, and way back, I worked on Park Avenue for the Consul General of Japan.
Q: Manhattan to Myakka, that sounds like quite a shift. How do you like it?
A: I love it! In New York, you learn to walk through a crowd and look right through people. But in Florida, everybody smiles. It's refreshing.
Q: What do you like to do when you're not working?
A: I like nutrition. Lately I'm into seaweeds, which is on topic because they are nautical! They're also the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. My favorites are bladderwrack, digitata and japonica kelp, and nori.
Making creams and lotions with essential oils from plants which is another passion of mine. Iím an avid reader of Ďhow toí type subjects, and Iím pretty domestically oriented. Since I spent a few years in Japan as a potter, Iím into the Japanese aesthetic.
Q: How about boating?
A: I'm a big fan. I've done it since I was about 10 years old. It was the only time my whole family did things all together because we are so far apart in age. My sisterís five years older than me and my brother is 10 years older. We all got together on the boat and went through the locks up to Canada, and my dad was our hero.
When Noa was born, I had visions of him becoming a scuba diver. I think I was projecting my own wish because Iíd like to go to the Bahamas and do some underwater discovery. Itís another world.
Q: What do you see as the POP Yachts advantage?
A: Itís the combination of down home personal service with knock-your-socks-off technological innovation. And itís exemplified by the owners; they are our role models and inspirations.
The company ambiance is a reflection of Scott's "Iíll give you the shirt off my back" personality. Integrity, honesty, hard work. Thatís us. No matter how big we get, itís always going to be the POP Yachts persona.
And Nick is our technological wizard. When this guy goes to sleep, I swear he must be dreaming about new innovations to our proprietary software.
