Update December 2020:
This stoutly built boat was one of the remaining boats floating in the marina following Hurricane Laura. She is afloat, never took on any water and fully operational at this time. All repairs have been made following this event and the seller is ready to introduce you and orient you to your new boat.
This is your chance to own a one-of-a-kind vessel and the seller will consider all offers.
This beautiful 1997 Corsair Custom 48 has a good story and a lot of history in it. The hull of this vessel was originally built to be a Biloxi Schooner for a private individual. When he backed out of the deal, the seller, who is also the builder, decided to complete it for himself. According to the seller, there are over 11,000-man-hours in the construction.
The hull is built on 16" centers and triple layered frames. All planking and frames are #1 Select Long Leaf Yellow Pine Pressure treated .40 PSI Guaranteed against rot for 35 yr. lying on ground.
Keel and main timbers are Long Leaf Yellow Pine but treated 2.5 Psi same as a piling driven in the bottom to build a pier and of course all underwater surfaces are coated with a premium bottom paint 70% cuprous oxide.
Deck houses are built with the same degree of attention to detail. At this time (2/2020) there is NO rot or toredo damage any where on the vessel. The vessel is nailed with 4" 316 Stainless Ring Shank Boat nails. The floors are white oak and the galley cabinets and trim are cherry and some black walnut and cedar were also used.
The galley has a refrigerator with a freezer, 3 burners electric range with oven and cover, microwave and double sink. The windows are Herreshof drop down windows for maximum airflow.
The head actually has a cast iron claw tub, a toilet along with a cabinet sink and medicine cabinet.
The captain's cabin has plenty of storage with a hanging locker, dresser drawers with mirror and storage under the bed.
This vessel has a 5-foot draft and 57-foot bridge clearance. The top section of the mast can be lowered to reduce the bridge clearance to 50 feet. The steel keel is filled with lead.
The Inboard Cummins 6 cylinder with 210 horsepower is very reliable and will last for years to come. With a 300-gallon fuel tank, you are ready to travel anywhere you choose. There is also a 10kw generator under the salon floor.
This vessel has a full complement of electronics including a Furuno radar, Furuno autopilot, GPS, VHF, Depth Instrument and a Compass.
Virtually everything on this vessel was built by the seller, including the windows and doors. The doors even have a 316 stainless steel frame to prevent warping. The walls, floor, and doors are insulated with Sound Down for extra privacy.
Wherever you look, there are special touches. For example, the steering wheel and two tiles in the salon are from Greece. One of the clocks is from a Cold War-era Russian submarine.
Various fittings, such as the handles in the floor hatches, came from a company in California that built wooden minesweepers during WWII. Some of the other hardware came from the same company.
There are several more unique features to this vessel and note that she has all bronze deck hardware, Cleats, belaying pins, padeyes etc. Bronze rigging turnbuckles, Stainless Steel head chains and anchor chains. Stainless Steel custom made Northhill anchor (for'wd and (1) #70 Fortress anchor aft both on bronze anchor rollers.
The seller has some maintenance records, but he is the builder and has done most of the maintenance on the vessel himself.
According to the seller, everything works as it should except for the rear speakers. The motor and generator start right up and run smoothly.
The seller/builder has the plans for the boat.
