CONSTRUCTION: Her rugged double-ended hull construction is based on a commercial design used for North Sea Coast Guard rescue cutters and pilot boats.

ENGINE: 85 HP Perkins 4.236 Marine Diesel - Fresh Water Cooled. The engine is as-new with a total running time of only 300 hours. Cruising speed is an easy 7.5 knots. The 85 HP Perkins Marine Diesel is, however, capable of propelling her at 10 knots.

SAILS and RIGGING: Sails are new - Dacron mainsail and foresail - 372 sq. ft. Mast and boom by PER SELDEN are anodized aluminum.

The boom is roller reefing. Boom crutch is stainless steel. Boom support and mast fittings of stainless steel. Halyards are internal. The mast is stepped on deck with a hinged foot which permits the crew to lower the mast.

Stays, shrouds, bottlescrews, and chainplates are stainless steel. The winches, winch bases, and the winch handles are stainless steel. The masthead-fitting supports the navigation light, strobe light, and antennas.

STEERING: Dual hydraulic steering positions with spoked mahogany wheels - one in the pilot house and one on the stainless steel pedestal in the aft end of the cockpit.

COCKPIT: The spacious self-draining cockpit which will seat 6 to 8 on comfortable seats with cushions is surrounded by a sheltering shoulder-high coaming.

The hinged seat lids give access to large storage spaces. The cockpit sole is teak and holly with a large removable engine cover hatch.

A smaller hatch accesses the spacious aft bilge which is lighted by a 12 VDC quartz light. The aft steering wheel is mounted on a stainless steel pedestal.

The pedestal supports the detachable mahogany cockpit table when in use.

An attractive, removable, waterproof, zippered tent completely encloses the cockpit for foul weather days, for privacy, or for storage.

For insect protection, a fiberglass screen is interchangeable with the waterproof tent.

PILOTHOUSE: The pilothouse provides a protected position for steering or relaxing in two comfortable seats.

Large tinted safety-glass windows assure excellent vision. Stainless windshield wipers are on the forward windows.

The pilothouse hatch is directly above the pilot station which permits standing for high-angle, 360-degree vision while maneuvering or docking. Convenient compartments for binoculars are at the pilot and copilot stations.

The hinged seats have storage beneath. Below each seat station is a spacious locker.

The port locker conceals a full-size chart drawer. The starboard locker provides a storage slot for the cockpit table when it is detached from the steering pedestal.

HATCHES: Three - forecabin, salon, and pilothouse. Hatches are fiberglass with mushroom ventilators beneath stainless covers. Insect screening for all hatches.

INSTRUMENT PANEL: VDO gauges with panel lights: Sumlog speed and miles - Electric fuel gauge - Tachometer - Engine oil pressure - Transmission oil pressure - Engine temperature - Engine-hour meter - AMP meter - Quartz analog clock - Charge warning light - steering-oil warning light - Fuses - Switches for lights: navigation, overhead, bilge, spreader, masthead strobe. - Electric windshield wipers.

Depth finder (depth finder transducers at bow and stern). - Danforth magnetic compass. AM-FM radio. Electronic hailer/listener/boat horn/auto-foghorn. Loudspeaker is mounted on the pilothouse roof.

Automatic electric bilge pump. Manual bilge pump in cockpit compartment.

ENGINE AND DRIVE: A rugged 85 HP Perkins 4.236 Marine Diesel engine is located under a large teak and holly cockpit sole hatch which provides easy accessibility. The sound-insulated engine compartment side-panels remove for access.

The Perkins Diesel is equipped with a heat exchanger for fresh-water engine cooling.

Exhaust pipe is stainless steel. The muffler is fiberglass. Extra steel support plates are embedded in the engine mounting members of the hull. A powerful low-rpm diesel drives a large, 21 inch, 3-blade bronze propeller through a hydraulic Borg-Warner reverse and reduction transmission and a stainless steel propeller shaft.

The propeller freewheels while under sail. The fuel and transmission control is a single-lever Morse type.

Two stainless steel fuel tanks mounted in the bilge carry a total of 108 gallons giving a range under power of 600/700 nautical miles.

RUDDER: Hydraulically operated, cadmium plated and black-tar-epoxy coated steel with stainless steel stock and stainless steel skeg.

KEEL: Full keel - 2650 LB cast iron. Fiberglass bilge-keels amidships port & starboard reduce roll.

SALON: The salon is large - 10 feet wide and 9.5 feet long. Standing height is a full 6 feet 4 inches throughout the entire interior.

The cockpit is just two easy steps up through the heavy solid-mahogany companionway doors, giving a spacious feeling of unity.

A teak grabrail is in the companionway. The salon is brightly illuminated by four large windows.

All windows throughout the yacht are tinted safety-glass. Cushioned seats or berths are on each side.

Below the seats, behind sliding black Lucite doors, are large storage compartments. storage compartments/cupboards with mahogany doors are behind the starboard backrests.

Behind the port backrest is additional storage. The port backrest swings up to become an upper berth. the lower port berth converts to a double bed. The mahogany salon sole is covered with plush carpeting.

Attractive PVC fabric insulating-liner covers the overhead and prevents condensation. The overhead has 12 VDC fluorescent lights plus a 120 VAC tungsten dual-light fixture with a dimmer control.

The handsome polished mahogany drop-leaf table adjacent to the stainless steel mast support is large enough (42 x 36 in) for dining and parties or, underway, to serve as a chart table.

Starboard, adjacent to the ventilated hanging closet, is a communications/entertainment area containing VHF and CB transceivers, a built-in Hi-Fi speaker, and a recess for TV. The air vents for the built-in 120 VAC 6,000 BTU water-cooled air conditioning unit are directly above.

GALLEY: The gimbaled three-burner propane gas range with oven has safety flame-out shut-offs. The gas bottle is secure in a gas-tight and overboard-vented locker in the cockpit.

A gas-proofed electric fan both ventilates the bilge and sucks cooking odors from the galley. A storage compartment is beneath the range.

The sink has a single-lever faucet for hot and cold pressure water. At the dock, hot water is provided by a fast-recovery electric heater located in the bilge.

Under sail or on-the-hook a European-style gas water heater provides instant hot water. A 12 VDC automatic-demand pump and pressure tank located in the forward bilge supply water from a 66-gallon polyethylene tank with deck-fill fitting.

Above the sink is a cupboard with shelves for dishes and stemware. Aft of the sink, behind sliding black Lucite doors, is a storage cupboard.

Below the sink is a pull-out cutting board and three substantial drawers.

To port of the sink is a deep locker with shelf. 12 VDC fluorescent and tungsten lights illuminate the sink area. 12 VDC / 120 VAC Norcold refrigerator/freezer is concealed behind the doors of the full-length hanging closet to the starboard of the galley. An icebox is hidden beneath a box-seat cushion.

WASHROOM: The washroom is on the starboard between the salon and forecabin. A large window illuminates the room.

A substantial counter surrounds the wash basin which drains overboard. A 12 VDC light is above the counter.

A storage compartment with shelf is behind a mahogany door beneath the counter. A "medicine" compartment is behind sliding black Lucite doors above the counter. A single-lever faucet supplies hot and cold pressure water.

A second faucet supplies filtered water. Instant hot water is available from a wall-mounted gas water heater which is vented through the roof by stainless steel ducting.

Additionally, the heater has built-in hot and cold faucets and spout. a full-length mirror is mounted on the heavy, solid-mahogany washroom door.

A wall mounted mirror is on the forward bulkhead. a 12 VDC fluorescent light is above the mirror. A mushroom vent with a stainless steel cover is in the overhead.

An ingeniously constructed system of heavy solid-mahogany double doors permits the washroom and the head/shower room to become one enlarged private area. A 12 VDC light is overhead between the washroom and the head/shower.

HEAD and SHOWER: The head and shower are to port of the washroom. a large window illuminates the area.

The head is electric and discharges through a Coast Guard approved Lectra-San treatment unit.

A Mahogany door encloses a shelved storage compartment behind the head. The shower is wall-mounted or hand-held. Shower curtains protect the woodwork. The shower grating is teak.

The shower waste water is pumped overboard by its own electric sump-pump.

The overhead has a waterproof 12 VDC light and a 12 VDC venting fan with a stainless steel cover.

FORECABIN: The private forecabin has large vee berths with standing room between. Large storage compartments are beneath the berths. Access to the freshwater tank is at the forward end of the berths. Surrounding the berths is a generous mahogany shelf which is secured to the hull.

An enclosed compartment is behind mahogany doors on the port side. A 12 VDC fluorescent light on the overhead illuminates the entire forecabin.

The cabin is well illuminated in daylight by three windows. The overhead hatch has a mushroom vent with a stainless steel cover.

An ingeniously constructed system of heavy solid-mahogany double-doors gives the forecabin complete privacy. Forecabin occupants can use the washroom and head without disturbing people in the salon (or vice versa).

HEAT: A 12,000 BTU Webasto forced air diesel furnace supplies ducted fresh air heat to the salon and forecabin.

The furnace, which is mounted in the aft bilge, draws fresh air from outside and exhausts overboard. Diesel fuel is drawn from the engine tanks located in the bilge.

Controls are in the salon. Additionally, a 5,000 BTU 120 VAC heater is mounted in the salon beneath the companionway steps.

SHORE POWER: 120 VAC 30 AMP shore power is supplied by an AC connector at the stern. An AC voltmeter is mounted at the pilothouse instrument cluster. 120 VAC outlets are located in the cockpit, the salon, and the washroom. The AC circuit breaker box is in the salon hanging-closet.

12 VDC POWER: A DC voltmeter is at the Pilothouse instrument cluster. The battery main switch plus 12 VDC switch-and-fuse panel is mounted in the salon hanging-closet. The engine alternator is 40 AH. 12 volt power is supplied by up to 6 batteries of 90 AH each which are secured in the port bilge and in the starboard cockpit locker - 2 batteries minimum.

NAVIGATION LIGHTS: Bright, SELDEN navigation lights with international certificates have stainless steel housings.

FITTINGS: Lifelines are PVC coated stainless steel wire. The stanchions, sockets, and the pulpit are stainless. Double-cross bollards are mounted aft, amidships, and on the foredeck.

Flagstaff with socket at the stern. Port and starboard jib sheet tracks and blocks. Bronze thru-the-hull fittings with gate valves.

Teak handrails on the cabin roof, on the pilothouse roof, and on the aft edge of the pilothouse structure.

A PVC rubrail surrounds the entire hull. Permanent stainless steel bathing steps at the stern serve double duty as a boarding ladder.

ANCHOR: The stem fitting is stainless steel with a nylon anchor roller.

The anchor winch is SIMPSON-LAWRENCE HI-SPEED with rope drum and 3/8 chain gypsy.

Just aft of the anchor winch is a separate deck hatch to the large anchor and chain box which has an overboard drain. The aft wall of the anchor box is a waterproof collision bulkhead.

A 12 VDC automatic pressure pump in the stern bilge supplies raw water to a fitting at the stern coaming for deck washdowns, etc.

Information On Condition

This Fiskar 31 is in very good condition. Current seller bought her for a live aboard, but plans have changed.

He purchased from the original owners who rarely used her.

Sails are eight on a ten scale.
