This 2006 MacGregor 26M in Pella, IA is a great boat for families or serious daysailers alike. This is a trailerable sailboat that can pull young skiers or tubers with the Mercury 60 HP outboard or just spend a quiet day sailing on the lake or ocean.
It is easy to sail, and it can be in the water and under sail in minutes; small enough to trailer and yet big enough to sleep six if you want to stay out for the weekend.
The boat and trailer are light enough that is does not require a big truck to pull it to your favorite lake and bring it home to avoid costly slip fees. The narrow beam checks in under eight feet so it can be towed anywhere in the USA on its double-axle trailer.
All of the sailing lines are rigged to the cockpit for easy sailing or single-handed sailing when not under the power of the outboard.
There is six feet of headroom in the surprisingly spacious cabin. You have an aft queen berth and a forward double berth along with 2 single berths. The galley has plenty of counter space to spend the weekend.
A retractable daggerboard and rudder leave you with 12 inches of draft so you can sail into almost any cove and drop anchor for the night.
Raising and lowering the mast is very easy with the Mast Raising System. The MacGregor will even allow you to lower the mast as you approach a bridge.
Nicely updated and well cared for, this motor sailer has been refitted with updated equipment over the last 2-3 years. The custom-built dual-axle Loadmaster trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes is a 2019 model. The mainsail, roller furling jib, genoa, and standing and running rigging were replaced in the last three years.
The interior has been outfitted with custom, extra thick V-berth and aft cabin cushion covered with Sunbrella cloth. A new interior carpet was installed recently as well. Other upgrades over the standard equipment include a hot water heater/tank, electric water pump, Plastimo 50 L water bladder, and a new Garmin GPS-chart plotter.
The trailer is in great condition. A new canvas dodger, Bimini top, and jib cover were installed in 2019.
