This Californian is a work in progress. The interior is partially refitted and is now on the market for a buyer to complete the work.
The Californian 42 is a longe range traditional trawler. It is a popular model with just over 200 built over its production period. It has two cabins. Each cabin with itS own head. The aft stateroom includes a tub/shower.
The hull is built with solid fiberglass construction. It features wide decks, a flybridge, sun deck, and has a very practical appealing layout. The Californian is a great boat for friends and family cruising, weekend getaways, or living.
The 42' has a tri-cabin layout with the salon and lower helm. The aft cabin restoration is mostly complete. The salon area needs the galley sink, refrigeration, and oven refitted. The flooring in the salon area is about 60% complete. The forward bunk and head appear serviceable, but not newly refitted. The exterior is weathered and needs work. The Flybridge has been mostly taken apart. It appears that most parts are still on the flybridge.
This Californian is a project. The engines last ran about a year ago. A mechanic came in last March and was able to get them turned over, but there is no water going through the starboard engine. They have not been started since. The generator does not work.
The interior is in various stages of restoration. The aft stateroom looks to be about complete. The salon is about 40% complete. Not much has been done forward of the salon.
The exterior deck is weathered and needs painting. the bowsprit and flybridge are mostly taken apart. The boat is sitting in brackish water and has not been hauled out for at least ten years. The moorage is not transferable and the boat will need to be moved after purchase.
Electrical systems are believed to be working but have not been used since the batteries failed. The only battery that is known to be working is a newer 12v used for the bilge pumps.
