OWNERS WRITE UP:

The Bruce Roberts designs are well known for their
circumnavigating abilities, as they were designed to face the
harshest seas. The 434-D Pilothouse cutter rig was designed
to take on anything including Australian waters, the Northern
passage, Cape Horn, or the Antarctic. This capable vessel will get you there and back. My friends like to call her "The Hell-N-Back boat" because it will get you there and back. This example was built from the higher cost kit that features soft chines which makes her super efficient and allows vessel to point better and glide through the water amazingly fast.

This gem is located in beautiful Niceville, Florida in a live
aboard marina, only a 20 minute sail or motor to famous
Destin, Florida where the waters are Emerald and the sands
are like powdered sugar. Slip fee where she resides now
is only $514.00 per month where the water is
brackish and barnacles are almost non-existent. Buyer and new owner will be invited to stay right here at the
same rate if you want to relocate to this beautiful location. You can enjoy the premium slip with unobstructed views and beautiful sunsets. Due to the large deck around the cockpit, she is a natural gathering place for the friendly helpful residents of the marina.

This beauty rides and feels like a trawler under motor power, and sails like a dream. She's fast with a hull speed of 11-12K and easily achieves 10k using her motor for power. She is very rock-solid stable, doesn't even move when you jump
on board, turns on a dime and backs up predictably
compared to full-keel designs. Three or four foot waves are
hardly noticeable. If you're looking for a coastal cruising bay-
sailing"water-lily" this is not the boat for you. However, it is
an EXCELLENT live aboard something akin to a two bedroom two bath apartment. This is not a beginners sailboat, however she handles like a 24' O'Day due to the knife-blade keel and skeg rudder combination. Additionally, this vessel is set up for single sailor sailing. All running rigging goes aft to the cockpit. There is a remote switch for the new Lewmar V3 anchor windlass, and a new iCom GPS enabled VHF radio with a remote "Command mic" on the binnacle. This 43' vessel really is easier to handle than most any smaller boat I have ever captained.

This fine well-built example was lovingly crafted by an expert
builder who took his time with the welding and the installation
of interior substructures, systems that make this not just a
boat, but an "environment". Over the years this beauty became somewhat famous, since the previous owner sailed through the Bahamas and south Florida for several years and many adventures. He was an avid ecologist, diver, and environmentalist who tailored this vessel to suit his adventuresome missions. He added many expensive pieces of equipment as he upgraded her capabilities. Most surprising to me was the discovery of a massive stainless steel retractable 6-step 7-foot hinged dive ladder installed on the sugar scoop stern, and a fresh hot and cold water shower to greet you after a salty dive.

This unique vessel has has many-many attributes and top of the line equipment installed. Manuals exist on most systems. She includes more equipment than I have ever seen on a sailboat actually.

It is obvious this vessel was built by a genius builder/engineer who took his time and spent a lot of money on the finest equipment available for a blue-water performance cruiser. The weld-work is second to none. We hauled it out recently in March 2018 and hired a certified marine surveyor to survey it from the waterline down. He made some recommendations and we spent over $9,000.00 eliminating potential problems, rust issues, and had the repairs professionally welded patching several small holes in the anchor-locker area, and strengthened the skeg rudder
attachment to insure many years of worry free traveling.

She has always had a thick epoxy barrier covering the entire
exterior and epoxy painted inside throughout. It is also foam
insulated throughout most of the boat covered with wood
wainscoting for superior temperature control. While hauled-
out we raised the painted water line 6" in anticipation of
being heavily laden one day for an international crossing. We
then coated it with five layers of tie-coat and SeaHawk
bottom paint from the water line down.

The sails are in great shape and the genoa recently had new
Sunbrella sewn on to upgrade the UV protection. The Spin-
Tech Triumph 2000 roller furling is virtually fool-proof and very substantial. The battened main has a stack-pack and lazy jacks for ease of use. The hank-on cutter sail is new.
Vessel is fully wired from bow to stern, most within plastic
conduit for protection A/C and DC wiring feature many
convenient outlets.

The C-Tronix AP9000 autopilot functions beautifully with the
duel hydraulic steering and with the skeg rudder
maneuvering in reverse and docking is vastly superior to full-
keel vessels.

Research shows that Bruce Roberts 434-D's average over
$100,000.00 selling price. This example is not perfect (yet) but is in very good shape with most all systems functioning
properly. We have recently lowered the price to $68,000.00
USD to make it more affordable and obtainable just in time for a summertime journey anywhere in the world.

You will never ever find another boat as well equipped and practical as this boat. If your goal is open sea adventure, this beautiful vessel can take you anywhere in the world right now.
