This is a racing vessel. Due to the age allowance, everyone is going to owe you time. It is was constructed of Kauri wood in the famous Cookson Yard in New Zealand by Bruce Farr. If you are not familiar with Kauri wood you would be well served to read about it. Not only is it one of the most desirable materials for boat-building due to its properties that allow it to bend, but the very tight grain also allows it to hold anything that is fastened to it. The fact that it is an extremely slow-growing tree and demand for it was so high, exports of Kauri were banned and the only new sources come to market these days when old structures are recycled.
The fuel tanks are gravity fed so you can sail with confidence that you will not experience a mechanical failure in your fuel delivery system. The engine has been lubricated with synthetic oil since the current owner acquired her in 2001. She was brought to the United States from New Zealand by an accomplished race team and despite being pushed hard across 6,000 miles of open ocean, we're told those bulkheads never moved a centimeter. Her headsails are piston hank, 110-jib and 150% Genoa.
Below decks, everything that doesn't make her faster has been removed. What she lacks in modern amenities (and she lacks most of them) she makes up for in speed and durability.
Dinghy included: Oars included
Structurally the boat appears solid, but she needs some cosmetic work. She's the perfect vessel for someone looking for a quality build but wants a blank canvas on which to build and really personalize this boat.
