We're sorry to see this one go but check out some other options below.
Polaris has a very interesting history. Her hull and engine was fabricated in 1976 but she sat completely empty, literally only the motor installed, for 39 years in a dry boatyard under a shelter. Then in September of 2015, the current owner bought her and, using only the best materials, has spent the last four years bringing her to life! His dream was to circumnavigate the globe and he needed a rock-solid boat. In August 2018 she set sail for the very first time. She had never even been in the water before. If it was not for a physical injury, the owner would not be seller her. He would be out sailing the world. But this presents a fantastic opportunity for you to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
As you can imagine, the list of all the things the owner has done is quite extensive. If fact, it is 5 pages long, single-spaced! (Photos of this list are here in this listing ad)
When you walk up to the boat you are immediately impressed with the crisp colors of the hull and deck. This is because the paint is of high quality and done in 2018. The Teak wood toe rail and cockpit grating are glossy and impressive. The deck was painted bright white with non-slip deck paint. The deck has high bulwarks, a draining gas lazarette and wide bridge deck leading to the companionway.
The salon is covered with beautiful Teak planks. This really does give the inside space a nice comfortable feel. The full galley is to starboard and has the machinery space behind the steps. The navigation table is a good size and is to port. There are two single berths to sit, hang out or sleep. There is plenty of natural light for the companionway and portholes during the day and lights above for night time. There is plenty of storage all throughout the salon.
The forward stateroom and has enough Teak for sink less well main boat! This part of the boat is so well done it is hard to describe. The bed cushions are in great shape and very comfortable. There is plenty of room to sleep, dress and move around. You do not get a sense of being cramped in this cabin. The head is inside the cabin's privacy door and is also roomy and nicely laid out for functionality.
The engine is diesel, has 40 horsepower with only 75 hours of use. This is the original engine from the manufacturer but the owner has carefully gone through the engine and has upgraded a key part that has made it even more reliable. There is also a diesel generator, an extra 12-gallon fuel tank (82 gallons of fuel total) and a power inverter. Transmission is an Aque-drive System 14000 Series.
There is also an aft 100W solar panel connected permanently to the engine battery to keep it ready in the event that engine power is needed. The owner has redone all the electric wiring, battery disconnect switches and installed three digital battery conditioning meters.
This boat is loaded with everything you would need for long week trips or months on end. This is one of those boats that you have to come to see it to really appreciate. She is ready for a historic adventure!
(You can find a list of upgrades and work the owner has done over the last 4 years in the photo section of this listing.)
Everything on this boat is in good condition because, with the exception of the hull and engine, everything is only a few years old and has not been used much.
The hull is old but for the first 39 years has sat in dry storage under a shelter. The hulls paint is only two years old.
The engine is in good shape and only has 75 hours on the hour meter.
