1986 Beneteau First 345 Sloop Sailboat in Bridgeport, Connecticut

Stock #134457

Although located in Canada, due to Canadian regulations, this boat is not available for sale to potential buyers in Canada.

The Beneteau First 345 was designed as a combination racer and cruiser, and many feel it represents a very successful blend of the two functions.

In fact, it might be said that the First is a racing boat that contains a cruising interior. The architect was Jean Berret, a Frenchman noted for his cruising and racing designs.

The Beneteau First series represents the performance-oriented designs, the fin keel and spade rudder, coupled with a shallow bottom, have minimal wetted surface.

The boat is masthead rigged and equipped with running backstays in addition to a permanent backstay, and carries as a norm a mainsail of 258 square feet (roughly) and a genoa of about 431 square feet.

The deck is clean and easy to move about, including the side decks leading forward. The cockpit is deep, roomy and protected by its coamings and wide side decks.

The interior of the 345 is neat, functional and roomy... and climate controlled thanks to reverse cycle air conditioning.

The layout has an aft cabin, dual settees in the saloon and a roomy double V-berth forward. An aft cabin to starboard is sufficient for sleeping or sequestering a youngster.

Aft and to port is the head, equipped with a marine toilet, fitted with a Y-valve leading to a holding tank.

Gray water from the shower is led forward to a bilge sump behind the mast step. Fresh water was contained in two tanks under the settees, totaling about 100 gallons.

The L-shaped galley is forward of the head and equipped with a two-burner propane Electrolux stove and oven. Refrigeration is an icebox. Opposite to starboard is a chart table.

The main saloon is spacious, the double settees comfortable. The amidships table contains a wine rack plus additional storage space in the legs; beneath it is a Beneteau trademark--the small bilge cover that converts to a dustpan.

Headroom is more than six feet, storage ample and inconspicuous throughout, the net being a very tasteful, comfortable and speedy boat for cruising or entertaining after taking the trophy.

Information On Condition

The boat has been in the water but little used the past three seasons since her original and only captain passed, she has been sailed occasionally since, the engine run periodically and tended to by loyal friends at the yacht club of many years on behalf of the widow.

She is absolutely bone dry in the cabin with no leaks or seepage, bilges dry. The Volvo Penta engine was replaced with either a new old stock or rebuilt unit shortly before the captain passed, exact hours unknown as the Hobbs was not reset or replaced, but the best estimate is thirty or less.

Most of the lines, if not all, will need to be replaced, the standing rigging appears to be in decent condition but will need to be checked, as well as the chain plates and keel bolts. The condition of the sails to be determined but the set is complete with spinnaker.

The cabin and appointments are in good condition for her age, the exception being the roof liner in the v-berth which will need to be re-glued or replaced.

This is an original owner vessel, original sales and other documents and manuals retained over decades are included.

The batteries have been charged and the engine run.
