1976 C & C 38-2 Sloop Sailboat in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Stock #160509

If you are looking for a moderately priced performance racer cruiser with awesome sailhandling gear and many luxury upgrades including many late model self tailing winches and an AWESOME ELECTRIC PRIMARY WINCH, you'll want to see vessel.

She has been well tested and performed admirably in the Marion - Bermuda and Marion-Halifax races.

This C&C 38-2 is a beautifully styled, classic racer/cruiser with a fin keel, spade rudder, and keel-stepped mast with rod rigging and double spreaders designed by Rob Ball.

The boat is a thoroughly modern version of this popular racer/cruiser with her green awlgrip topsides, a relatively young diesel engine, electric primary winch, Max prop, Seafrost refrigeration, propane stove, roller furler, newer upholstery, refinished salon table, SS holding tank and new dark tinted windows with sun/privacy shades.

Those features described above and her numerous custom features combine to make her a very comfortable long-range cruiser and set her well apart and above her sister ships.

She features a traditional layout with a v-berth in the forward cabin with shelves, bureau, and lockers. Large overhead hatch with darkening shade and door for cabin privacy.

Moving aft is the ship's head to port with marine toilet, SS sink with handheld shower, sump pump, small opening hatch with privacy shade, and ample storage in cabinet behind smoke-grey sliding doors. Opposite to starboard is a large hanging locker and storage cabinet, counter with AC outlet, and cabinet beneath for additional storage.

Continuing aft is the main salon with port and starboard settees, both with pilot berths outboard for additional storage and/or sleeping bunks. At the center of the salon is a custom, teak trimmed double dropleaf dining table mounted to the mast. Recent upholstery is tasteful tan fabric with matching pillows. Table was refinished in elegant Herreshoff fashion.

Aft to port you will find an ample forward facing nav station and opposite to starboard is the ship's galley with double SS sinks, 3-burner propane stove with oven, and a large refrigerated ice box. Farthest aft to port is a large quarter berth. Upholstery in forward cabin, salon, and quarter berth is all recent and in excellent condition. Cabin sole is teak and holly and nicely finished. Electric distribution panel under companionway and above newer Westerbeke diesel.

Moving up the companionway stairs you enter a large, well laid out, secure cockpit with room for a racing crew to move around or for your cruising guests to comfortably relax.

At the center of the cockpit is a nicely finished, folding wood table attached to the steering pedestal. Plenty of space and amenities in the cockpit!

Information On Condition

This Broker has visited this particular vessel and can attest to the many upgrades that this unique boat has had over the years.

She is known to have several soft spots in the deck which have never been a problem.

Current and former owners have continually updated and improved her over the last 20 years.

The boat is an exceptionally clean and well-kept vessel. Very well equipped for extended cruising, she also is easily single handed given the placement of her winches and traveler.

Her electric winch allows for effortless raising of mainsail and trimming of sheets if desired. The propane stove and Seafrost refrigeration make for very comfortable cruising.

Her Max prop makes docking a breeze, and also improves sailing performance. Her Hinckley green awl grip topsides turn heads wherever she goes.

All ships manuals are indexed in five binders and stored on a custom shelf over the quarter berth. He r custom holding tank is stainless steel.

The seller reports also that there are two small leaks at the chainplates, one to starboard and one to port should be rebedded, otherwise she is a tight boat and sails great!!

All information in this listing is believed to be accurate and correct but we do encourage all inquiries and questions relating to its present condition, the accuracy of details including but not limited to its location, engine hours, service history, listing status and features.
