1969 CAL 40 Sloop Sailboat in Kaneohe, Hawaii

Stock #220995

This popular CAL is the sister ship of a 1963 Trans-Pac winner.

After sailing to Hawaii, her light racing rigging was replaced with heavy weather rigging suitable for Hawaiian waters.

The boom was also reduced from 17' to 15'. She also had another $11k standing rigging replacement.

Recent Upgrades Include:

-- $10k Paintwork (Currently being completed)
-- New Battery
-- New Electrical Panel

She is on her 3rd Engine.

Below deck, she is ready for a complete re-fit and is very much a PROJECT BOAT. Please see all photos for her current condition below deck.

This could be a very cool opportunity for anyone wanting to completely refurbish the living quarters.

According to the seller, there is a "truckload" of sails and equipment which comes with the boat but will not be itemized or inventoried.

The interior is original and has been left in tact to allow a new owner to put their own stamp on her.

The original beam was replaced with a galvanized steel one; the main bulkhead has also been replaced and reinforced.

Please note: This boat is at a private marina so the slip is not transferable.

BACKGROUND INFO ABOUT CAL YACHTS:

Cal Yachts (aka Jensen Marine) was a manufacturer of performance-oriented fiberglass sailboats designed by C. William Lapworth from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The Costa Mesa, California, the headquartered company was founded in 1957, among the earliest of all-fiberglass, mass-production sailboat builders. Although the brand has been out of production for some time, the existing fleet is still substantially active in racing and cruising.

Nearly 18,000 boats were built under the Cal brand name.

The Jensen-Lapworth collaboration resulted in some amazingly competitive racer/cruiser sailboats, the most famous of which is the Cal 40.

Jack Jensen sold his company to Bangor Punta Corporation in 1968 and if we include all the later takeovers, Cals continued to be built until 1989.
