The Catalina 25 was the most popular boat in her class during her production years and still remains highly sought after today. Designed and built to be affordable yet strong and reliable. She is capable of offshore sailing but better suited for coastal and inland waters. Originally designed to be a racer in the late seventies, the Catalina slowly emerged as a cruiser before production ended in the early nineties.
This 1989 Catalina 25 is a two-owner FRESHWATER ONLY boat having spent her entire life on Lake Norman in North Carolina. The current owner purchased her in 2003 and she remained on the lake until 2017. She was decommissioned, loaded on the trailer and brought to her current location and stored indoors.
In 2019 her hull was sanded and a new coat of antifouling bottom paint was applied from the water line to the tip of the fixed fin. From the water line to the top deck was cleaned, waxed and buffed. The hull is in great condition having never been launched after the work was completed. The top deck appeared to be in good condition as well but a little dusty from being stored in a warehouse.
The mast, rigging, and sails range from original to a six year old Genoa. All visible parts appeared to be in good condition and operational.
Removing the nicely finished door panels and sliding the hatch forward allows you to step down into a spacious salon area. Just to port is a microwave, sink, and food prep area. Moving forward a settee both port and starboard provide a comfortable lounging area that can double as a berth if need be. They are also used as seating when the fold-down dinette table is in place at meal or snack time.
Moving even farther forward you pass through a section with a marine head to port and a hand washing sink to starboard. Accordion style doors provide privacy.
You then enter the forward V-berth area that sleeps two adults. The center cushion is removable allowing more room for maneuvering while changing clothes or accessing the many storage areas beneath the berth. This area also has a large hatch that provides natural light during the day or star gazing at night. The hatch can be opened and locked into any position to allow as much or as little air circulation as you desire.
There is an area aft of the cabin entry that Catalina calls a double berth that sleeps two adults. Under the cushions is where you find the house battery and other electronic controllers.
The 2016 trailer is an added plus. When not in use for storing or transporting your boat, the jacks or stabilizers can be removed and the trailer used for many purposes. Low mileage on the trailer as it has been used once to haul the boat from Lake Norman to her current location.
The owner is extremely motivated. All reasonable offers will be considered!
The boat is in overall good condition.
Hull from top deck down in great condition. Topdeck and cockpit appeared to be in good condition with no soft spots or cracking noticed.
All cushions in the cabin area were firm with no rips or tears noticed
The owner stated all sails and rigging in decent condition and very usuable.
