2006 MacGregor 26M Sloop Sailboat in Santa Rosa, California

Stock #179393

Owner dropped price to make this the next MacGregor sold in the US!!!

This is one of the best and most affordable sailboats you can buy. Perfect for the family. Perfect for an individual as you can single-hand this boat easily.

Also, this boat allows you to save thousands of dollars every year as you don't need to keep it in a slip and don't need to paint the bottom every three years like one has to with every sailboat kept in the water. So, if you want a sailboat that is fun to sail without the monthly cost of other sailboats, read on!

Like all MacGregor sailboats, it has a solid, hand laminated fiberglass hulls. The hull is shaped like a traditional sailboat above the waterline, but the bottom is flatter than most sailboats and designed to allow the boat to plane like a powerboat. This flatter hull is similar to the design of modern sailboats with hard chines that reduce how much it heels and helps it sail faster.

MacGregor has been building sailboats for some 40 years and claims to have sold more sailboats than any other manufacturer. With a focus on trailerable pocket cruisers, MacGregor developed the first water ballast system for their 26-footer in the late 1980s. Water ballast provides stability afloat and minimum trailering weight ashore.

The invention was ingenuous: fill the ballast tank when you launch the boat to give it stability when heeled over under sail, then drain the ballast when you pull the boat back out on the launch ramp, making it much lighter for trailering with an ordinary car. Using the outboard engine, you can motor in the boat at speeds in the mid-20s.

MacGregor's mast-raising system makes it easy for one person to rig the boat in the parking lot beside the launch ramp. The boat sails well under just the mainsail when it's breezy, and the optional roller-furler makes it easy to get the jib out without leaving the cockpit.

The cockpit is more than 6 feet long, and a pedestal-mounted Morse wheel-steering system maximizes cockpit space. The helmsman's seat hinges up for access to the outboard and for easy boarding at cockpit level. The raised cabin top's forward hatch provides access to the bow, where there is a large anchor locker and bow pulpit.

The main cabin has 6 feet of headroom. The dinette and settee can convert to a double berth, while the bow area is devoted to a good-size V-berth. A king-size bed with sitting headroom is located under the cockpit. The surprisingly large cabin sleeps 6 comfortably, has an enclosed head, and galley with an alcohol stove.

Two other great things about this MacGregor - you can hand start the engine if your batteries go dead, which provides a great backup anytime you are out on the water. And, this one has the best trailer of any MacGregor on the market. It made from aluminum and has torsion suspension, which keeps its wheels on the ground.

Information On Condition

This boat has barely been sailed as it has only 96 hours!! It has leaves and dust inside because it hasn't been used, but when you walk in, it has a new boat smell. A little cleaning and you have a like-new boat.
