The Macgregor 26 is arguably the most versatile crossover sail/powerboat ever built. 58 years and 38,000 boats are testaments to that. While production has been discontinued, family members are building a similar boat in Florida.
MacGregor designed these to be sail/power 'hybrids', designed for use with a more than 'auxiliary' sized outboard and water ballast. You can even pull a water skier and pull up on the beach!
These boats are great for day sailing lakes, coastal bays or extended cruising in protected waterways. The MacGregor 26X has a Water Ballast with Swing Keel and Dual Rudders.
There is the ability to stay for the weekend out on the water as well. Room to sleep 4 comfortably, convertible dinette, sink, and head.
The vessel comes with a 50HP 2006 Honda motor with approximately 450 hours on it.
MacGregor EZ step mast can be raised and lowered by one person.
Rigged so all sails can be controlled from the cockpit.
She is a perfect boat for someone who wants a project to refinish her hull and bottom. Please see the current condition-
Overall, this boat appears in good working condition. The owner bought from the mid-west where it has been a freshwater boat only. She just took her first dip in the water this past Summer after being stored on her trailer.
Unfortunately, there was an accident with a forklift operator who lost control of the boat. The boat fell onto the trailer. The trailer could not support the weight when it was being placed unevenly. Trying to hoist the boat back onto the trailer was just causing further damage to both the boat and the trailer. The forklift was not strong enough for managing the weight of the boat properly and a lot of scratches both deep and superficial. The majority of the damage is a 10 inch by 8-inch gouge on the port bottom of the hull. It did not puncture through the hull. It will need a fiberglass repair as well as a few other spots that are about two inches and above the waterline.
While putting the boat on the trailer it slipped bathers is some heavy scratching in the hull that will need to be repaired. The trailer fender is smashed and tire needs replacing. She needs some TLC and you will have a wonderful boat.
There's a new Sony sound system installed, bought new docking lines, new shifter, new compass, Lastly, a new mainsail was purchased.
All the interior cushions are in great shape and the outside cushions have all been replaced but were not delivered as of yet (when pictures were taken).
The Bimini is the original with the boat and has been kept covered. The sail cover for the bimini and sails are in great shape.
