1978 Morgan 382 Sloop Sailboat in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Stock #167379

Have you ever dreamed of sailing the blue-green waters of the Bahamas and the Caribbean in your own sailboat? Do you imagine yourself of living aboard your own boat, able to take off on high seas adventures whenever the mood strikes you? If so, this is the sailboat for you.

In 1978, "Grease", "Superman", "Animal House", and "Jaws 2" were top of the box office, the Bee Gees were top of the charts, a retired submarine captain and peanut farmer was President, and your next sailboat was built. Sailing was more popular in the 1970s than it had been since powerboats first hit the market and boat builders were making a wide variety of excellent hulls. Among those building some of the best shoal keelboats was Morgan.

Designed by Ted Brewer and Jack Corey with a wide 12-foot beam, teardrop hull with a fin keel, and a reverse transom, the 382 shares many of the design hallmarks of a vintage racing boat but is built as a comfortable cruiser. Unlike traditionally slow cruisers, the 382 hull features an elongated fin keel, skeg mounted rudder which also protects the prop from entanglement, and round bilge to give it faster lines and better speed. She's built to take the best advantage of the wind in a very roomy and comfortable fashion.

The interior of the 382 is voluminous with storage space for enough supplies to take you across the sea on a many days journey. Featuring beautifully polished wood throughout, she provides the warm and cozy atmosphere of a true home on the water. There is a large head with shower. The main berth is a v-berth at the bow with a secondary berth aft. She's outfitted with a propane stove/oven, a brand new air/water-cooled refrigerator, and a grill for keeping the crew fed.

To keep the batteries charged, she features a pair of new 140W solar panels and a new 400W wind turbine with a new charge controller and inverters. On the electronics front, she features a brand new Raymarine Axiom 9" GPS/Chartplotter and a new Simrad VHF radio.

Unlike many sailboats of this vintage, this is an excellent vessel, ready to sail, a boat that has already had the hard work done to bring it into the 21st century. They don't make them like they used to, and they never made them quite like this.

Dinghy included: Avon inflatable, 3.3hp motor
