Designer Lyle Hess, best known for designing Lynn and Larry Pardey's bluewater cruising yachts Seraffyn and Taleisin, was asked by Nor'Sea Marine, the builders of the Nor'Sea 27, to design an offshore, bluewater, heavy-weather cruiser which also trailerable without a permit. The result is the small and ocean-ready Nor'Sea 27.
Nor'Sea 27s have made four circumnavigations and more than 160 Pacific and Atlantic crossings. And it all begins with this very boat you are looking at because this is hull #1.
The appreciation verging on cult-popularity of the Nor'Sea 27 is on account of how much is packed into this small boat. It has a center cockpit - something generally only found on larger sailboats. This allows for a small aft cabin, that has two-quarter berths that wrap around the space for the center cockpit and provide sleeping room for even tall adults.
A long wooden tiller is used to steer the boat from the center cockpit (see pictures - it is currently in the v-berth while trailered). And wow does the Nor'Sea sail well. The owner reports that one of his favorite things about this sailboat is that he can leave the tiller and she pretty much sails herself. It also surfs really well and does well in following seas. And, the owner is amazed as it points upwind really well - he is amazed at how tight he can steer it upwind.
Forward of the center cockpit is a long galley to starboard and a head with a new, unused porta-potty toilet. Forward of the head is a dinette. with storage under the seats. The nav station has a fold out surface that has plenty of room for nautical charts and all the way forward is a comfy v-berth.
Put her in the water, attach the deck-stepped mast and enjoy a sail in this rugged little beauty.
The boat appears in great condition and has been lovingly cared for by its current owner. All manuals for every system is on the boat. The upholstery is in great condition. The paint job on the hull looks nice.
The propeller is clean. Of note, the last time the engine was run was in 2016. The batteries have a full charge and have been unhooked.
The bathroom sink was taken out as it was easier for the owner to use the galley sink. The sea water pump pictured for the galley sink is new and comes with the purchase of the boat, but has not been installed.
60-day Sea Tow membership* comes standard with your boat purchase!
