We are proud to label this boat sold.
The Hatteras 53C is notable for its size and notorious for its fish-hunting capabilities. The 53 is the quintessential yacht for serious offshore and cruising adventures. This Hatteras was purchased in Puerto Rico in 2017 and traveled the Caribbean islands before making it to her current home slip in North Florida.
The three sleeping cabins, two heads with full stand-up showers, and spacious salon bring the comforts of home to any port. A small number of steps down the companionway leads to a cruise-ship-like hallway with rich wood doors and chromed hardware. The owner converted the traditional twin bed arrangement in the main suite to a proper queen size bed. The other two cabins sleep two each and there is always room for two more in the livingroom-style salon where the recently installed sofa converts to a futon bed.
The main suite head is ensuite and the second head is accessible from the forward sleeping cabin and also through a hallway door. Closet style hanging lockers are placed throughout the cabin and drawer storage is smartly placed.
The galley aboard the Hatteras is a U-shaped counter fit with three-burner stove, microwave, double sink, and a full-size refrigerator. Beautiful wood paneling, cabinets, and features surround the galley and salon, and the striking ocean blue countertop is a centerpiece.
The substantial aft deck is either the business end of the boat set up for fishing, or it's the leisure space most boat owners can only dream of. Coaming pads surround the 16' wide deck space and the floor hold with drain has been used as a live well/baitwell.
Stairs lead to the flybridge which is laid out with two captain's chairs and a long sofa-style bench seat. Electronics are aging but include a West Marine VHF radio and a Garmin GPS unit.
This Hatteras is outfitted with a marlin tower, also with coaming pads, and a dingy davit on the forward deck.
Dinghy included: Apex Inflatable with Mariner Marathon 25 outboard
The next owner can purchase the Hatteras for a reasonable price, and with some additional investment into her, they will have a beautiful Hatteras Yacht.
Some maintenance and repairs are needed to bring the boat up to date. Bottom paint was done in 2018 and will be needed again. The swim platform was removed from the boat and the original mounts will need to be removed eventually. The bottom was recently cleaned and the zincs were checked.
The owner confirms the Detroit Diesels start right up and run well. The engine room was clean and orderly. There are five batteries aboard, four 8v batteries were replaced in 2018. The fifth is the generator starter battery. The generator is not starting, the owner ordered a part for it which has not yet been installed. The drive shaft stuffing is ready for replacement.
The owner indicates the original fuel tanks are in use with no issues. The master suite head uses a LectraSan system and the second head discharges overboard when far enough offshore, so there are no waste tanks onboard.
An area of fiberglass repair near the port side pier pylon has been filled and not sanded. A similar area on the starboard side is partially complete also. The owner notes there is a soft spot on the bridge deck and on the forward deck.
The helm gauges and compass are ready to be replaced and the steering has been stiff lately. Painted aluminum surrounds on the marlin tower will need to be repainted. The windlass and davit helm switches were not working at the time of the listing but the owner confirms the units themselves were operational.
The fighting chair is being sold with the boat. It has been removed temporarily for maintenance.
The cabin spaces on the boat were clean and intact, overall, and the headliners were clean without signs of water damage. Hatches and portholes were tight except one in the master suite that showed signs of a previous leak around the seal, it is watertight now. Wood and wood-like flooring was very nice. Some upholstery and seatbacks are missing and would need to be replaced depending on taste.
The dinghy has a slow leak, the dinghy motor is running as always, the owner indicates. The canvas for the aft deck bimini is beyond its useful age but is available to be used for a template for replacement.
