A highly educated maritime professional that embodies the romance and adventure of boating. Highly competent manager, navigator, and technician with wide-ranging mechanical, electrical, electronics, and canvas/sail repair skills as well as extensive cruising experience to remote destinations. A lifelong mariner with 35 years of recreational, sailtraining, and military experience on power-driven and sail vessels. Grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and started solo voyages on a 19' sailboat at age 12. Subsequently worked in the maritime industry as a sailing instructor, dockmaster, and marine technician. At age 22 embarked on a two-year voyage on personal 29' sailboat from Annapolis to the Bahamas and Caribbean. Upon returning, earned 25 ton masters license and served as master of the Baltimore-based sail training vessel Minnie V. before joining the Coast Guard. Commanded two U.S. Coast Guard cutters (110' and 154'), one in support of U.S. Navy for Operation Enduring Freedom in the Middle East. Owned numerous vessels including a 43' offshore sailing vessel, J-24, and 30' power vessel.
In 2010, I bought my first 20' RV travel trailer while stationed in San Diego. My wife and I traveled the southwest and fell in love with the RVing lifestyle. My family currently owns a 28' Jayco travel trailer which we use to enjoy using in the Pennsylvania mountains.
I currently hold a U.S. Coast Guard Master of Oceans 1600 gross tons captains license, 2nd mate unlimited of Oceans, Master of Oceans 200 gross tons of sail and tow, a USCG unlimited able seaman, and U.S. Coast Guard qualified assessor.
