I have lived on the South Shore of Long Island for almost 40 years, never more than a mile from the Great South Bay. My love of the water began at a very early age. My mother was a lifeguard in her teens and taught me to swim as a baby. As I grew up, my friends and I either walked to the beach or took the ferry to Fire Island most summer days. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend who literally grew up on boats. I'm pretty sure he has gills! He has taught me everything I know about boats and boating. He has even admitted that I now make a pretty good first mate! We have recently bought our fourth boat, a 30' Searay. He chooses the boat but I get to name them! You can find us cruising the bay, fishing under the Smithspoint bridge, rafting up in Connetquot River or hanging on some part of Fire Island. My home away from home is The Florida Keys and we plan to retire there one day. Truth be told, sometimes we are just chilling at the dock in our marina. Either way, if I'm not on the boat, I'll be knee deep in the water somewhere.
