May has potential for use as a commercial venue or potential for a joint venture to maintain as a recreational vessel . 6,000 sq ft interior and 3,000 sq ft deck space. The original capacity of 650 passengers.

Schamonchi is a steel hulled small passenger vessel of all welded construction. It has a flush main deck with longitudinal shear and enclosed passenger cabin, upper deck with raised forecastle (Whaleback Deck) and bridge deck with open passenger deck. It has a raked stem, hard chine with displacement hull configuration and transom stern.

It was previously a USCG inspected passenger vessel and an unrestricted coastwise trade indicator.

The registered dimensions are length 129.8' breadth 29.0' and depth (of the hull) 7.2'; it measures at 91 gross and 37 net tons and was built by Edward T. Gamage Shipyard of East Boothbay, Maine, in 1978. The hull is divided into nine compartments by eight transverse watertight bulkheads.

Propulsion is by two Cummins V12 model KTA 38-M diesel engines of approximately 940 horsepower each at 1800 RPMs. They are turbocharged and aftercooled and also freshwater cooled with the engine mounted heat exchangers. It has electric start (24 VDC) and dry vertical exhaust. Electric was by two diesel generators that may be still operational.

The boat is a floating art consortium. Which has not regularly been run.

Information On Condition

The hull is in need of a lot of TLC.

She's been patched in many places.

Some plywood patches. Some concrete boxes.

She's original 1/4 steel. Audio Gauging hasn't been done in ten years. Many of the decks are surface rusted. Exterior shows paint peeling and chipping.

The is a large bilge pump running at all times.
