1971 Grand Banks 32 Sedan Trawler in Long Beach, California

Stock #191429

The Grand Banks trawler yachts have long been considered to be among the best-designed trawlers in the market. This boat has been an important part of the owner's family for more than 3 decades. They have enjoyed many fishing trips and cruises all along the Southern Califonia coast.

With a slight turn of the key, the Ford Lehman, 120 horsepower diesel engine sprang to life without a moment's delay. The engine seems strong and at a 7.5-knot cruising speed burns around 3 gallons an hour. Articles about this boat say that is can travel almost 500 miles before depleting the tanks.

The outside of the boat is attractive and solid. The deck is in good shape and the Lazarette is large and has been upgraded by the current owner. He has moved the large center water tank and replaced it with four (two on each side) 30-gallon water tanks to help balance the load in the boat. These tanks can be filled with water for a hose. The bottom of the Lazarett is Diamond Plated and has room for lots of gear and equipment.

The inside is mostly original and in good shape respective of its age. The cabin and head dated but are in decent shape. The dinette folds down to make a double berth. Across for the dinette is another berth that converts to a bunk style for 2 more passengers to sleep. This boat can sleep 6 comfortably.

This boat is solid but does show signs of its age and probably will require time, energy and skill to fix certain things and perhaps bring it back to its original glory.

Information On Condition

The boat is dated and there are a few restoration projects that the current owner has started that would most likely need to be completed.

The engine seems in good shape but has been sitting for a while now.

The bilge seemed clean and free from oil or order. The wood handrails outside need some work to bring back to a more attractive state.

The forward navigation light needs to be mounted again and the air horn needs to be fixed.
