2000 Custom Built 38 Push/Pull Tug Utility in Jacksonville, Florida

Stock #150987

This hardworking utility push/pull tug was originally built in 1962 and served as a Navy dredge tender. At some point, it was decommissioned and then titled in 2000 as utility vessel.

The boat is powered by a single Detroit Diesel 671 2 stroke (165 HP) driving a direct drive transmission and shaft. It has hydraulic steering and, according to the owner, handles very well. The owner also states that the vessel is extremely fuel efficient.

The deck is well equipped with heavy-duty winches, cleats, chocks, and bollards. The bow of the vessel is equipped with a substantial push knee and two secured steps to allow easy access to pushed barges.

There is also a large grate on the stern protecting the hydraulic steering components and allowing for the stacking of considerable equipment or materials.

The upper half of the pilothouse is removable to facilitate transport. The pilothouse has excellent 360-degree visibility and includes steering, shifter/throttle, some gauges, and a marine VHF radio. Access to the engine room is also in the pilothouse.

This vessel is in use every day and is ready to go to work for your operation.

Information On Condition

General condition is as expected for a working utility vessel in use every day.

Deck shows areas of chipped paint and some surface rust (see pictures) but nothing in excess of what would be expected for this type of vessel.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a small crane on the bow of the boat. It is NOT operational. Current owner has never had need of it so he has never attempted to repair it. No idea of what is wrong with it or what it will take to repair it.
